RimWorld

Empire

How to manually force Rimworld mods to run on unsupported version of the game?
Obviously I'm asking especially in the context of this mod. Will creating a mod folder for 1.4 and copying from 1.3 just does the trick?

Guys? Is this mod dead?

Too many people don't read the comments or at least fail to scroll past the 1st page of comments. Because if more people would read comments, then we would not have very many asking questions like this. That's because the comments already explained that there exists an experimental, pre-release version of Empire for 1.4 over on GitHub.

Here's the link:

https://github.com/Danimineiro/Empire-Mod/tree/pr/24

Instructions:

GitHub will not work if you try to download via the in-game Steam browser. You'd need to use the link through an actual browser (such as Chrome). Also, downloading may not be possible if your browser is too outdated.

Near the top is a green-colored "Code" button. Click the Code button to get a drop-down menu. Then click the "Download ZIP" option at the bottom of this menu. Inside this ZIP is a "Empire-Mod" folder. You'll want to extract this folder to this location:

{Steam location} \Steam\steamapps\common\RimWorld\Mods

For most Windows players, {Steam location} is probably "C:\Program Files".

Finally, inside RimWorld, you'll need to click on the "Mods" button and drag "Empire" from the "Available" mods column to the "Active" column.

BTW: Normally, you'd want to download from the "Releases" section. However, in this case, there's not yet been an official "Empire" release for 1.4. (This is a pre-release, WIP update.)

Thanks, it's all working now. I feel I should say though, that it's also the authors' fault that I couldn't run this mod. The author could've put these instructions in more visible place, as they're easily lost in the comment section.

shame i cant get it to work, it fails to generate map when trying to start a new colony and when adding to an existing save it makes all pawns and animals immortal.

In that case, it would probably be best to post about this in the Bugs Or Glitches discussion. Though, I'm pretty sure the author would like to see a link to a pastebin of your gamelog or error log. (At least, most mod authors do in such cases.)

BTW: Have you tried to get this mod to work by itself (and Harmony, which this mod requires) - without any other mods? Many bugs reported to mod authors are actually due to mod conflicts.

You did have the Harmony mod library installed when you tried to get this Empire mod to work... right? It is a requirement. And, if so, did you put Harmony at the VERY TOP of your mod list, above even RimWorld 'Core'?

An example of a mod load order (if you happen use all of these), from the top down:

1. HARMONY
2. CORE
3. Startup Impact
4. DLC (Royalty/Ideology/Biotech)
5. Hugs Lib
6. Mod Manager
... { other mods }

I think there's at least a possibility that a different mod is causing your issue. For example, I know that, recently, a lot of people have been complaining about HugsLib causing some serous issues which a lot of other mods got blamed for. This, despite the fact that many, many mods require HugsLib and there are well over a million subscribers.

i managed to resolve it, the issue was with save our ship 2 which must have been conflicting with empire
