I did specifically want to have there be more than 1 playable character because of that. in DR1, everyone that's not Kyoko or Byakuya are kinda just there. Same with Chiaki and Nagito in DR2. It just feels more interesting if multiple characters contribute and get some spotlight instead of 2 characters do everything and everyone else just stands around making no personal or major contributions.
Some of the guys that played the mod didn't get that when going through trial V3, so I had to spell out who the traitors were in trial 4 so everyone was on the same page for later. As for Hat Kid signing their lives away, the logic was that it only takes 1 person in co-op to sign the contracts, then both hers and Bow Kid's souls get taken away.
Snatcher being bound by a BFF clause didn't translate to me when I played through Death Wish. I mostly saw him making fun of me when I died, and being furious when I got all of the stamps, saying "...WHAT!? YOU'RE NOT DEAD! This book was useless! I should sue...", so I thought it was safe to assume he's still trying to eliminate Hat Kid.
The reason for the framing was also because of that interpretation that Snatcher hates Hat Kid that much to attempt anything to get rid of her.
I notice that a lot. Marking them's not a bad idea.
Fair, your interpretation is your interpretation (and critical to the story, at any rate). My interpretation is based on one of the lines Snatcher might say when you die. Specifically, "Regretting the whole 'best friends forever' thing yet, kid? I can do this a whole lot longer than you can." That carries the strong implication (to me, anyways) that he has to be there because of that clause. Also, you 'die' multiple times in the Death Wishes (unless you're absolutely amazing at this game), it just never seems to stick. Another couple of lines he says when you die indicate this to me. One is "Ohohoho, I hope you don't think one measly death gets you out of your contract. We're only getting started." Another is "Oh no, you're not slipping out of your contract that easily.
But in the end, this is just my interpretation and you are the dev. It just threw me for a loop, is all, but that's not on you.
I finally did that. https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2321414768
