Rational Romance 2
(This conversation is over, disregard) Please reduce the default chances of bisexuality
PLEASE do not revive this year old thread that hasn't had any activity in almost a full year. I cannot believe that necromancing old threads is not standard forum etiquette at this point. All you're doing is being rude by trying to reopen something that has already come and passed.

Original post:
On the bright side, at least you can change this via settings. By default, the chances of bisexuality are 50%. This is unrealistic, but if you want 100%, fine... But I'd like to not have to remember to change it so that my world has something other than bisexuals in it. Reduce it to 25%, and split 20% to both gays and straights. The new settings would look something like 30% straight, 25% bisexual, 30% gay, and 25% asexual. That's a pretty nice mix, in my opinion, and still allows for a wide variety.

My default settings are 70% straight but that was because my entire colony of 20 ended up being bisexuals and I just want something different to challenge myself with at this point.

read the mod description idiot
I'm sorry, but if it's effectively GAME BREAKING how often it occurs then I have a right to ask for the reduction. Especially since, no, bisexuality is not the "default" for humans, and I can point towards SO MANY EXAMPLES where it wasn't even with the absence of modern cultures.

Oh, and how exactly is it game breaking. I would also like to see those examples

Okay, so the reason why it broke it for me is that I have a male barracks and a female barracks, and only a limited amount of room for some private rooms with a proper double bed. If you can guess, I had a limited male population, so I thought my limited amount of rooms for private quarters was going to be fine.
It was not.
So many mental breaks.

Well that's your issue isn't it?

I got a warning for my initial reply. I'm not going to disagree with it because it was salty, but it was funny to finally receive a warning after my many years of being here.

This is rude. If it's an issue, then it's an issue for sure. Just saying "that's your issue" to try to deflect criticism is bad. My original post pointed out that Rimworld's based on western ideals, and that it's your issue that there's so many x and y in the z community(not naming anything but you could probably piece it together slowly,) but for an even fairer point, it's your issue that you haven't had the same experience as anyone else and never will unfortunately.
Even I lament the fact that I can't experience the same things as other people, it led to an inferiority complex. I've been working through it, but the question is, should your experiences override mine and invalidate all of my problems? I personally do not think so, as I don't think my experiences should override yours.

Were you going to post those examples? Ancient Greece and Rome, along with several Asian countries which had no cultural stigma against homosexual relationships tended to have many people in power being in relations with both men and women. Modern tests done by Alfred Kinsey even show that many people nowadays show SOME degree of bisexual behaviors even if they aren't aware of it Even if you don't want to do your research, you also should only need to change the options once so I'm not sure what issue you are having with that. Personally I don't see the issue with them being bisexual since that just means they aren't restricted on options.

I thought I unsubscribed from this. In any case, I present, the ENTIRETY of the middle ages as my witness that no, bisexuality is not a default, it's usually created by the cultures itself. Same with homophobia, however.
By the ways, I don't give a single hoot over Alfred Kinsey, he has the same amount of respect to me as any other psychologist:They don't have a CLUE what they're talking about and they never have. There's a few times where they were right, but David Rosenhan+co, and Diederik Stapel proved that we as an entire species still can't begin to comprehend even a single inch of our brains, and those that say they can right now are frauds.

I'm not against bisexuality, mind you. My problem is when it begins to break the enjoyment of a mod by causing genuine problems. It's funny the first time around when someone goes catatonic over a failed romantic relationship, it's horrendous when your entire colony breaks down over really bad luck and having everyone trying to enter homosexual relations.

And the modern age is also not known for this? I can't even say a joke that was completely fine in the 90s without getting socially decapitated.
Seriously WTF I want to unsubscribe from this conversation, I've hit the button thrice now.
Anyways, the ancient Greeks generally frowned upon it too. The aristocrats of that era did it anyways, because it was exotic. The Romans only started to do it during their downfall, and like ancient Greece, it was generally disliked by the population, ignored by those with power as it was something new to sate their tastes.

/shrug, you're the one who wanted to use middle ages as an example

And you're the one who designed to snark me for an age that was pretty much less restrictive than the one we're in now.
This is probably my most controversial take, but its the one I believe in the most. If you attempt to challenge the status quo, you're socially executed. Unless you're really good, no company wants to take you on because they will be taken out with you. With ever increasing censorship, you're now only allowed to think in a very select spectrum of ways, or else you'll be persona non grata. If you kill a "saint", you end up with streets ablaze and active crime, all the while your useless politicians attempt to appease the mob. Hell, if you use the wrong words to describe someone, you'll get arrested! And putting biological males into female prisons is just wrong, especially if accused of sexual assault, just because you are not allowed to challenge what they think.
