Feeding Gigas and using my tribesmen's nanny

So, I placed a ptera egg in front of my tribesman's nanny and he starved to death. I don't know if it matters, but i placed raw meat in her inventory too. Placed my own Nanny and she will not feed my Giga's nor imprint them. Any suggestions?
