Playable Gas Species (Portraits, Traits, Origin, Relic & Story!)
Suggestions and Praise
First and foremost, I want to say that you've done a SPECTACULAR job with this mod, truly. That being said, I've got some ideas that I would be honored for you to consider.
First and foremost, I think that, being Gas people, each Gaseous Pop should eat 0.01 Exotic Gas ( especially considering the relic you get from the archaeological site ) INSTEAD of food. And adding genetic traits that add bonuses at the cost of adding more strategic resource requirements, such as:
  • Volatile Armaments: like Very Strong, but each Pop needs 0.01 Volatile Motes as well
  • Crystal Clear Minds: like Intelligent, but each Pop needs 0.01 Rare Crystals as well
Which brings me to another idea I had while playing this mod: altered gas giants should have their own districts! I was thinking City Districts (to keep the Prosperity Traditions still useful), then maybe a Dust Clouds district that adds Volatile Motes jobs and a Ventilation district that adds Exotic Gas jobs and something else that adds Rare Crystal jobs!
I was just thinking that having an economy based on the strategic resources would be very interesting!

Also minor note: I was finding blockers and rare planetary features from this mod on normal planets which usually wouldn't have "exotic gas layers", lol

Hey, thanks for the suggestions! I was thinking the same think about consuming something other than food. I could have a look at districts as well, I'd rather they looked different. As for planetary features, I'm aware of that, cus of how there generated, its a bit wibbly, I'm working on a solution like giving gas planets a climate type.

Will there be compatibility with planetary diversity?
And will there be an ability to play as a C'tan? I want to enslave inferior species as celestial fart gas.

Compatibility with PD is dependant on being able to generate planetary features after everything else. Or something like that. Haven't figured that out yet unfortunately.

What about something with the gas giant aliens you can find as a special project, where they want you to move them to another gas giant? Could have something special since you are a gaseous entity too

Yeah, it's unfortunate. Hive-Mind requires the species to be Biological or Lithoid and I don't want to goof with the base game settings, unless I made another gov type thats basically hivemind for gas which I suppose I could try. It's the downside to making another archetype.

Hey, just wanted to say that this mod is fantastic. I always love seeing species mods on the workshop. The only thing that could make this better is a custom shipset, but even without, great job man!

Should have them subsist on either energy, or refined gases (a very small amount since gas is equal to about 10 gas per normal resource.

So maybe like 0.1 gas upkeep?

But then maybe someway to uniquely make the gas.

I would advise the you not make the Altered Gas Giant Ascension Perk something you can get so easily. It's crazy OP and doesn't make sense for an Empire to do it without the necessary terraforming technology. My suggestion is that you make it so that you must either be a Gas Archetype Creature OR have the World Shaping Ascension Perk.

If you are gaseous yourself, you can get it with plain Terrestrial Sculpting and Anti-Gravity Engineering. If you are not, you must have the World Shaping AP.

Otherwise, it's just unfair.

It's an oversight on my part, non gaseous empire shouldn't even be able to get it. Didn't even notice till this morning.

Love this mod, epic job. Just having some thoughts.
In StarTrek DS9, there're species called changelings.
The natural forms of them were some kinda liquid and they could turn themselves into solid forms outside their homeworld.
But on their homeworld, they returned to the liquid forms and joined each others' minds. The drops become the ocean.
They called that ocean(contains countless minds) the Great Link.

Since turning gas into cyborgs would make no sense, gas species might need a unique ascension path.

would there be any chance of duplicating the portraits having the copies be un-linked from the gaseous beings trait perhaps going so far as to make a full quad of Biological' Machine' Lithoid and the true gas beings? if you could id be super stoked as these look perfect for a nanite based race too.
