I also have a request/idea?
Would it be possible and within the scope of the mod to get an option (either through policy or game start-popup a la Guillis/Gigstructures) to apply the genderless species flag to the player empire regardless of species choice? Both as a bypass to the GalCom/Wargoals, but also for flavour?
I ask as I usually play a custom empire of feline mammals who do not have genders and I'd love to be able to keep that concept alongside the mod.
There is a great deal of untapped potential for gender specific sci-fi.
Such as:
- Explore the idea of tying this into Syncretic Evolution (where two races work together where each have gender boundaries).
- Explore the idea of creating true Sexual Dimorphism (where the genders in a sci-fi environment are radically different).
- Explore the idea of creating Gender specific Symbiosis Origins (A specific gender benefits from / suffers from benign or parasiticorigins).
There could be Origins / Traits / Storylines created out of such choices!
Sorry.
Aww... I'd actually like the idea of being able to set gender restrictions to pops. Like: Playing a slaver Empire? Sure, have the females as clerks and entertainers etc. and send the males to the mines and slave armies. I know that stellaris doesn't make any differences here in terms of traits or whatever, just for RP.
That's pretty much exactly how it's set up: there's a policy for each leader type and you can select a different one for each type. There's no universal "ALL MALE" or "ALL FEMALE" policy.
Also having empires somewhat randomly choose to be patriarchal or matriarchal or equal with a higher chance of authoritarian or xenophobic empires choosing one or the other and egals being more likely to have no gendered leader policies.
Some interaction with species crossbreeding perk might yield...interesting results.
