Dead Before Dawn (Extended)

Kyle's Review of "Dead Before Dawn: Extended" - 4/5
A classic... reanimated. 4/5 stars.

Among its many versions, the director's cut of Dead Before Dawn is generally considered the best one. However, its custom audio is broken for many players, which is a problem in a campaign that's famous for custom voice lines and music. Thankfully, the extended edition has working audio, and for that reason alone it's the version I played.

Despite this hassle, I recommend Dead Before Dawn: Extended. It has the best voiced NPCs in the history of custom campaigns — they even have subtitles somehow! Its locations and set pieces are always memorable and usually fun. It's challenging, but not unfair. The gauntlet finale is particularly great.

However, I have to give this 4/5 stars because of stuttering issues and missed opportunities. The game hitches randomly, like it's about to crash — and for old PCs it probably does crash. Survivors are also weirdly quiet despite the NPCs talking directly to them, and the new music is hit or miss. Still, try it out!

Huh, didn't knew in DC sounds doesn't work anymore, I re-list it back to public then.
Yeah I've also noticed the Survivors are less chatty than in DC. I also noticed the music cues don't work anymore, and you don't get the audio ads inside the mall anymore.

Funnily enough, the music cues and audio ads do work for me in Extended, but not DC. It seems like DC works for some people and Extended works for others. No idea what causes that :er_sad:
