3.0 Development Update - First Part

We're trying something new today. Instead of posting the update on Discord, we'll post it on Steam (so more people can see it) and then link it on Discord. It also helps with formatting and stuff.




How is the developmennt going?

Pretty well! We have been adding sooo many features, reworked so many paths (not to say all of them), and much more. On the Discord, we already covered some features and new paths (Anarchist and Democratic) but never really talked about all the reworking that was going on. That's what we're going to do today.




Stalin's Path

Although none of the paths are full reworks, we wanted to spend time adding content to those who lacked any and update old paths (especially after the dev diaries on the Soviet Union). So you might see some similarities with the dev diaries, especially for the Great Purge. But keep in mind this is 100% our own work, and Paradox might be the ones taking inspiration from us. First, the purge. We did not bother to rework it at first, but looking at it now, it was a very lazy and boring purge, especially for a path where you don't do much early game. So we decided to rework it, give it a custom GUI (inspired from the dev diary) and also boost Stalin's gameplay overall.

You will now start with a Head of the NKVD. During the Purge, Yezhov takes over Yagoda, and after the Purge, either Beria or Yagoda will take Head of the NKVD.

But what do you do in the Purge then?! Well, you... Purge people. During the focus, you will get 3 purge events about the most important (in our opinion) figures in the country. After that, you will get a random purge event every month. You may also receive a purge where you have to decide between 2 people and keep only one. Of course, you can also decide to not purge someone, but this will decrease the Purge's progress. You guessed it, the goal is for the Purge to reach 100%, so you gotta purge a lot of people, or else... Bad things might happen (really).

Once the Purge is over (considering it reached 100% and nothing bad happened), you will have to decrease the Purge's debuff. Some of it can be done immediately but you will never be able to fully remove it until you're at war with a major. This way, it prevents the player from getting rid of the Purge too early and keeps things a bit more realistic, and also challenging.

Of course, we did not forget about the other focuses. Like every other path, numbers have been adjusted and some focuses modified. We also changed the End of the War focus.

Finally, we did not forget about the Great Patriotic War. We improved the base game's decisions and reworked them, but also added some.

That's about it for Stalin! Also, the Proletarian Union has been moved somewhere else... Secret for now.




Trotsky's Path

I think when talking of reworks, I'm not wrong by saying Trotsky is the one that received the most. His path was very empty at first (mostly because of the operations which most people won't do because it's a bad feature overall). After each update, we kept buffing Trotsky and even adding new features. This time, we did not add anything, but rather reworked his "Liberate the Workers" operations. Before they were pretty meaningless, so I decided to completely change them. These operations will now, on the state you target, liberate a country (which has a core on this state) and does not exist. They will be granted divisions depending on the resistance in the state. As you can expect, this works best in Africa. Of course, just like the other operations (like Free Korea and such...), the liberated nation will get a national spirit that prevents them from joining a faction for half a year. If they manage to survive, you will be able to invite them to the International with the decisions. On top of that, I also added a little GUI to the revolution.
