If the building were to have mood effects.. [input requested]
What would you think would be appropriate for mood debuffs? In terms of amount and flavor text?

The object would work similar to the psychic emanator in that pawns within range would get the mood debuff. If possible, psychopaths would actually be given a mood buff instead.

a small mood debuff wouldnt do much since raiders get the +25 from extremely low expectations, maybe meddling with the ental break theshhold itself would work, but how to trigger that on certain people is beyond me, and probably too hard to code

so the only way to really do it would be a huge mood debuff, like a -20/-15 per head on stake, stacking up to 3 or 4 times

idea for the flavour text: "These people are monsters! They nailed actual heads on stakes, i dont want anything to do with them!"

or: "I saw the heads of our bretheren skewered on spikes, i'm scared for my life when i think about what they'll do to me!"


bear in mind those debuffs should somehow be excluded from your own colonists, since they need to repair/build them, maybe a one time -5 debuff for building one that lasts a few days would be nice to balance, just like butchering people gives a debuff since its immoral

I agree with most of this. However; if I implement it will likely be a buff or debuff based on whether they have the psycopath trait and not what faction they are from. Even a normal, rational, and sane person would be horrified by a head on a pike, even of their own enemies. So for that it would be terrifying anyone without the trait.

That also makes it a great pair with the Bad People mod because if you run a sadistic colony, over time your people will become psycopaths and having heads on pikes will be something you do strategically/be a good thing for your colony because your people will be happier from having those up. It gives you reason to make your base have these horrifying structures on display and helps your colonies progression.

good idea to pair it with bad people, which should then be made into a required mod since it should either have a special interaction in the way BP works, or even a whole new trait gainable through BP, or even two versions of this mod / a mod option to change between a per trait or a per faction debuff version

it would be a great idea if this mod could cooperate with Prison Labor. The spiked head could work as a motivational beacon for the prisoners, no constant need for a supervisor. Or, if that were to op, at least lower the lost rate of motivation.
Sorry for lack of the best terms, haven't used Prison Labor for some time and my brain doesn't want to feed me all the foreign words at 3:20 AM.
