Secondly the glove inventory is not disabled. Gloves can store grenades, stimpaks, and med grub. Lol but if you are trying to store the key, its didnt work for me.
DO NOT try to carry it in a bucket or anything to make it harder to lose. Later, the key model and grenade somehow fused themselves to the bucket model, lol. I couldn't get them out and had to start over near the beginning. Just treat the key like the gnome and carry it by hand and be careful not to forget where you put it between battles and stuff.
In the official game you can store grenades, stimpacks, key-cards, med-grubs and - spoiler alert - vodka bottle(s).
The last item strongly suggests my original premise - the map-maker can "flag" assets for storage.
