Remove Ship ID in HUD
I'd like to see if there is a way to hide the part of the HUD that automatically tells you what the ship type is.

Part of the approach of a ship is figuring out what it is. Checking the stacks, the window locations, figuring out what kind of destroyer it is. Where is the flag mast etc. Leafing through the ID book, no that's not it. Yes. No that's it! RECOGNISE

Now when you see a ship, it just says C3. Or Hunt class. Oh. Next next next next HUNT recognise. Done.

I feel that it's taken away an interesting part of the game.

I understand that there are so many variations now in UBE, but even if I choose the wrong type of C3 for example, it's not correct but its the same model dimensions anyway isn't it? So what does it matter.

Yes I could "just not look" but it's right there saying "it's a C3." you can't unsee it.

thank you for the write up. there is a way I can remove the ship class from the UI.

I may look into a patch for doing this. additionally the quick fix is to remove the source folder of UBE - however this will also remove the uboat captain images.

Thanks mate love your work. Maybe a hide function or something im sure other people like the helper, I just used to enjoy trying to match the ship to the ID. Sometimes I'm wrong, but sometimes the real skippers were wrong.

yea I was thinking a option / console command / datavalue to turn it off.

Any update on this? Or where can I find source folder? I really love the mod, but I want to manually recognize ships :)
