Dud Rates and Planes
I tried installing UBE and made a single patrol and had significant issues. I ended up boarding a freighter and while investigating them, a group of 4 destroyers showed up. I found the freighter was heading to a blockaded port, ordered evacuation, returned to my ship and dove. The DD's knew where I was (likely called by the freighter) so I slinked away to about 4500 m and launched a stern torp at the freighter that would have resulted in an impact angle of about 70 degrees. Torpedo was a dud. Reloaded, warmed, launched again. Dud again. All in, I launched all of my torpedoes at this ship... All 14. All duds. All at a depth of either 4.5 or 5.0 m (I can't remember which I used but that's where my torps are set for freighters with DD's around). Impact angles would have been between 70 and 80 degrees for all and I thought maybe they were "cooling off" while in the water so came in to as close as 1400 m for the last 4. All duds....

So I had to return to port to restock. I started heading in and ran into my second issue. When I was a safe distance from the freighter, I surfaced to get some distance faster. There was a plane on top of me. Dove again without having a chance to recharge my accumulators. I continued on for about 2 hours submerged and tried again. Again, plane on top of me. Dove again (still very little recharge on the accumulators). I continued submerged until my batteries were running dry and surfaced again. Again, there was a plane right on top of me. I didn't have enough left in my accumulators to dive and resurface, so I had to try and fight it off. I ended up getting sunk.

So....two questions. Is that dud rate intended? Was I somehow set up wrong?? I can understand needing to be CLOSE to 90 degree impact angles, but +/- 15 degrees seems like a pretty narrow window. Second, what is with planes following you while submerged. I was at a depth of 50 m, so they weren't seeing a scope or something. This seems a bit much for 1940. The only thing I can think of here is this was on the mission where you pick up a guy from a ship in Spain or Portugal and then receive a note that the RN is waiting for you along your "expected return path". Any chance they're just flat out hunting you in a scripted event??

There's a patch mod which reverts the torpedo data back to vanilla

Well, vanilla is a bit too easy on the player. The early torpedo detonators the values used in UBE are not satisfactory and likely this feature will be removed from the mod

Believe the mod is called UBE. Revert torpedo data patch

Don't forget that T2 torpedoes actually become less reliable when pre-heated. (historically accurate)

If I were you, I'd avoid EVER buying T2-p1, only buy T1-p1, T1-p1+ or t2-p1+.

T2-p1 is nearly free for a reason.

This patch mod is no longer required as the dead rates have been removed in ube 0.8.7
