[Solved] Cannot enable the mod
When I click enable in the launcher, it does nothing and hangs:

This is with 0.7.5b and B129 hotfix2.
Is there a log for the launcher somewhere? or another way to install?

It can take up to 5 minutes for the UBE mod data to be built by the game on first start.

you can check the progress of this in C://Users/<user>/appdata/locallow/DeepWaterStudio/UBOAT/datasheets

I tried it again after upgrading to hotfix3. I click on the mod in the mods window of the launcher and 20 minutes later still nothing. I get the same error message as in the first post.
the datasheets dir has some files though:

so is Uboat Expanded enabled in the launcher? there is nothing here to show that it is.

Also do not enable any other Expanded Mod (unless described in the Description) - Please remove Expanded Ship Names this is included in UBE

Are you running on Linux? << I have no idea what impact this could have

if so try unsubbing from UBE and resubbing - the data isn't even being loaded into the game?

Can you post a copy of your output log after following these steps.

Can you also check that the workshop mod even downloaded in to your workshop directory?

No it is not enabled, this is the problem. Once I click on enable my screen looks like this -> https://i.imgur.com/uaFnZPk.png it displays the unresponsive message after a few minutes.
I have uninstalled all mods, cleaned up the workshop and data sheet directory and reinstalled UBE. Unfortunately, same result, I force quitted after 20 minutes waiting.
Yes running linux but FWIW other mods work (custom actions, maintenance, device energy maangement).

Well it seems that either the launch or the game is not loading the mod at all. Either due to size, anti virus? Another error?

I'm assuming you see a bundles, and data sheet directory within the steam mod folder? As well as a manifest file? Maybe an image or ls of the contents?

You could try copying the ube mod to your local uboat mod directory rather than the workshop directory.
And enable the local mod instead

I unsubscribed from the mod then copied a backup of the mod to the local directory. I see it in the launcher mod window but when I select it I get the same result as before and a few minutes after I get the app not responding window.

Just one sanity check, here is the content of the mod downloaded via the workshop, is it complete?

It is complete, was there any change when trying to load from the local mod directory instead of the workshop directory? NVM.

My only idea is similarly to on Windows when starting U-Boat with ube installed there is a long period of where the data sheets need to be compiled into the game prior to start this can take up to 5 minutes during this time windows will report the program being unresponsive until the process is complete Linux maybe having the same issue however due to the fact that I assume you're using wine it may be halting the process while it's not responding thus stopping the loading of the mod data it's also interesting to note that other mods load as you would expect however this one doesn't again it could be due to the size of the files that are being loaded into the game but it's truly hard to know due to the fact the output log isn't reporting any issues as well as the OS and I assume VAR log doesn't show any errors

I am sorry this has happened. I am thinking either the launcher or game has a compatibility issue with Linux but I don't know how this could be the case with you using wine.

100% agreed. As I waited 20 minutes and I use an SSD I think there is somewhere something that locks. Sometimes I miss windows sysinternals tools. Got to find the equivalelnt of filemon in linux to see if something is stuck.I'll keep you posted if I find something.

Kinda wishing you had a vanilla windows os at the moment.

the launcher executable as well as unity changes could have an impact on this

it would be interesting to know if there was a issue with the windows version of wine that you're using I recall you or using Windows 7 do you have a Windows 10 updated version that you could possibly rely on many users experienced issues and compatibility with earlier versions of Windows especially with the most recent unity updates

Again it's odd because many of the other mods and the application still started for you.

however due to the fact that I have assets that are compiled in the most recent version of unity as well as customizations this adds an additional layer of complexity to the mod

Problem solved: I asked the question in the linux thread and somebody answered this: "It happens due to the lengthy description field in the manifest file. Maybe something to do with the tags as well. Editing the description in the manifest has fixed the issue for me."

I changed the description in th emanifest to "UBE" and the mod installed without issue. Thanks to @DECAFBAD!

Maybe the json could be changed for the workshop pack, it's not like you can read all that text in the Mods menu of the launcher.
