Box puzzle softlock

There's a point where you need to use breakable creates to climb into a vent a head crap fall through to get past a locked door, my problem is the crates break too easily and it results in a softlock. Did the creator not play test this puzzle to make sure the player can't get themself stuck?

actually you have to throw a grenade in the vent and make it come out of the other side
