ArcCW HUD Over Base Weapons
Hello ArcCW Team!

I was wondering if there was a way to force the ArcCW Heads-Up Display to replace the default Half-Life 2 HUD.

I really like the super-minimal icons-only style that it uses, and I really want to use it as a way to experience the game as a whole.

On top of that, it would make everything more consistent experience-wise. I tried another HUD add-on called Bored HUD that's compatible with this but it still uses bars instead of icons, and it also has weird design decisions like adding extra health as a separate number.

The 'Force HUD' option only really conflicts with other HUDs, and doesn't override the HL2 HUD.

Is this something that is relatively easy to implement on your end? I think it will make the add-on feel like a more cohesive experience.

Note: Not advocating this to be default, I just want an 'Override Default HUD with ArcCW' option, plus a console command for it.

Thankyou! :steamhappy:

No, it's built really close into the weapon script

I tried out Bored HUD for a bit, I didn't really like the bars, the weapons being displayed via the 'WEAPONS' text, and the +X for ammo and health over 100 HP/Armor.

How much effort would it take to decouple the HUD from the weapon script. As a generic `hud.lua` module that other weapons would reference?

Edit: Not sure how long this would take (Unfamilliar with Lua, mostly C++ myself) to do, but maybe a standalone version of the ArcCW HUD could be adapted and released as a generic HUD. I don't expect this last one to happen, but it might be easier to do rather than a refac of ArcCW itself.

How much time does it take to learn Lua on average. I have C++ experience and I have used a very minimal amount of Lua.
