Also, France (at least), should also have mobile warfare instead of her usual Great Battle Plan. They blitzkrieged up until Hambourg.
- I also think some extra-balancing is needed for the victors, in terms of research (at least) on military doctrines and materials (until they are at war or when certain late focuses (circa 1940?) are unlocked.
I have yet to see France or Russia managing to do something beyond a couple of provinces...
- General feeling:
Very good mod, I do not regret the hours playing this (putting me back in the mood to read full TL-191) and love the attention to details.
I can't wait to see other Great Powers focuses developped to give some depth & replayability in Europe.
Awesome Job!
Also, the alternate-alternate (well...) focuses seem all interesting with the CSA & Mexico. Can't wait to see what's in store for other countries.
- Balance :
It seems ok for an Human Player. I am by no way an HoI4 expert player, more a casual one, and managed to make correct to efficient BlackBeard. Some were thougher (huge fights in Ohio) but succeeded and allowed for other victories and a victory in the war.
By 1941 I am usually close to the bottom of manpower with a close to 1m army. The European war saves me by allowing stronger mobilisation laws (joining Entente).
I seriously doubt the AI will be able to cope with this & to face the overwhelming numbers of the US and achieve at least canonical goals.
The European powers are too weak compared to Germany. Russia was invariably steamrolled France never got past a few provinces and in the majority of runs was finally occupied in 6 months.
The insurrections seem too weak. Deseret sometime manage to hold a couple of months. Canada always get crushed in a matter of weeks. Most of the time I can't even complete the related focus before they are gone.
Perhaps resistance in the occupied territories (Canada, Deseret & former CS states) could be increased too? It was a big deal in the books and not that much in mod.
By the way, US forces seem to attack at once when Blackbeard fires. Could something be done with this? Could the focus add a shock modifier or something?
Suggestions:
- Surrender events for the US. I don't know if they are there and I got unlucky and they didn't trigger.... but it is quite a pain to have to grab every 3 VP town in the Great Plains when the whole heart of the US is gone. The war is won, there should be something like OTL France 1940. Triggers could ask for Chicago, New York, Phili & Pittsburg and a few others + certain % of surrender.
It could be a full capitulation or a partial surrender like OTL with a "Free zone" (west of the Rocky mountains?). Or just triggering the peace conference events (that didn't trigger either in my games).
- There are some great models/art for CS war material on deviant art. You should contact the artists. :)
The CSA has terrible manpower, when I play, I have to join WWII just to increase my conscription policies (after disbanding my entire navy) in order to build a feasible army.
What if there was a focus in the Jake Featherston part of the focus tree called, "Mechanize Agriculture" it could provide say, 4 civillian factories AND a small increase to base manpower, as mechanized agriculture would free up bodies for the front and increase the surplus of food which in turn would boost the population.
Sorry for typos, one to many beers lol.
