Claim Non-Residential Buildings
This topic has been pinned, so it's probably important

Frequently Asked Questions [F.A.Q]
Here are some frequently asked questions, so that you can stop trying to add me on steam to ask the same questions again.

I can't claim X building properly! Every time I go upstairs it says occupied, and every time I leave the building it unclaims!
Your server's safehouseremovaltime setting is too high. Set it to something like the default 144. Don't go over a value of 597.

Remember please that the setting depicts "real life hours" not ingame minute ticks, or real life seconds. There is currently a bug with the game itself that simply deletes your claim if the setting is more than 597.

It says occupied, but it's not the above issue!
Make sure there's no closet zombies, or any zombies/players within a 5 tile radius of the walls outside either. This is standard for any kind of safehouse claiming. The radius goes further than the walls.

Can X building be claimed? It's really big and doesn't seem to work properly.
Probably not? The largest I reccomend claiming are things like police stations, large bars, medium sized stores, etc. The mod is also intended to be used with administrative supervision, so that players can't lockdown important loot spawns in a place with respawning loot.

If you're just playing with a few friends and no randoms, you don't need this mod anyways, you can just set a nearby smaller structure as a safehouse for spawning, and then keep living in the larger one.

If you're playing with a big openly joinable non-whitelisted server, then you probably shouldn't be allowing unchecked player claiming anyways.

Can I claim spawn zones with this?
That's not what this mod is for. It's for claiming non residential buildings. Any spawn zone, residential or commercial, must be removed from the file that determines them. There are guides for this :)

Can I add this mid-save to a server?
Yes, as long as you know how to add mods to a save. You can remove it mid-save too, and the claims should remain, just be unclaimable again if released.

Can you add X new feature?
No. I didn't code the original mod, but even if I did, I don't want to. This mod does as it's intended, and any problems with it are 99% likely to be user error, or issues with the way the claim system is built to begin with. I could in theory edit the code, but I have no interest in doing so. It just works. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Does this work on X version?
Yes. And if it doesn't, you probably used it wrong. Send proof you didn't mess up settings, before asking. I'll laugh at you if you ask about any version including or after B41.68
