[Multiplayer] "Host is using different version"
The title says it all. I tried to host a multiplayer with my friend using this mod, and he got this error. Then I tried join his host, same error to me. And yes, he also downloaded the mod.
This only happens with this mod, we could play multiplayer with vanilla and DLCs only (so mod disabled)

Any suggestion?

make SURE that your friend is ONLY using this mod. if you use different mods, the checksum will be different and you won't be able to join him

He freshly downloaded both EUIV and the Extended Timeline mod, not others. We have different DLCs tho as he bought some kind of bundle, does that matter?

Having different DLC is not a problem. The game will use whatever DLC the host has.
Kim Haewon 1 Jun, 2020 @ 6:48am
Ah, thanks, dev. But then what could be the problem?
qweytr  [developer] 2 Jun, 2020 @ 6:22am
Are you using the workshop or direct download?
Kim Haewon 2 Jun, 2020 @ 9:37am
We both use the workshop version.

Then the correct checksum is a4eb
What do you have?
Kim Haewon 6 Jun, 2020 @ 12:42pm
My friend has a4eb but i have 55b7. What should I do now?

Your friend has the right checksum, so it's you who has something wrong with either the installation of the mod or the game. Reinstalling both would be something to try if you haven't already. However, I do not recommend you start a new MP campaign now, as the game is going to be updated tomorrow making current saves incompatible.

Okay, I'll wait for the update and then if the checksum is not correct I'll try reinstalling.

I tried unsubscribe and subscribe again yesterday, but it didnt help.

Im using Linux, and I have a 1280*1024 display. When I first installed EUIV on this machine I had to manually change the resolution bc it didnt autofit, not even from settings.

I think that could be the reason but it's weird anyways as we could play vanilla multiplayer, there wasnt checksum problem (as mentioned previously)

Now my friend has 2816 as checksum, I have 5a56. Tried uninstall-reinstall. Still same.
Going to do a full reinstall.

I did clean reinstall, now my checksum is d815, my friend still has 2816.
I have no other idea why. I am using Steam on Linux, my friend uses win10. But it shouldnt be the problem.

Also we could play vanilla multi so I guess it must be sth mod-related.

So, any ideas? I'd be really grateful if I could play with my friend..

Try doing this (both you and your friend should do this):

1, Unsubscribe from Extended Timeline.

2, Navigate to C:\Users\[name]\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Europa Universalis IV
3, Delete 'mods_registry.json.'
4, Delete everything in the 'mods' folder (but do not delete the folder itself).

5, Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\236850 (or wherever you installed EU4).
6, Delete all the folders you see there (they are the workshop mods).

7, Launch the game without any mods to verify you both have the same checksum and to generate new files (that you just deleted).
8, Close the game, resubscribe to Extended Timeline, and relaunch the game.
9, Active Extended Timeline and verify you both have the same checksum.

Thank you for your suggestion, we both did everything step-by-step, now we have 8406 with vanilla and I have e7a7 with mod, he has b2f5.

However we noticed that after deleting 'mods_registry.json' and checking the 'mod' folder, there was nothing in that folder. Aside from this (and the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ checksum) everything is normal.

Any more suggestions, please? I'm starting to be desperate as I love this mod but this situation is kinda annoying...
