Changing prescripted empire portraits
Hey so I'm wanting that clean imperial look without having to play the Empire. I tried changing the Eriadu Authority "species_class" and "portrait" to imperial but all it does is change the little portrait when you hover the Eriadu Authority but otherwise does nothing. What else would I need to change?

That depends on what else you are going for, since you did not describe every item you are trying to tweak. If you want the same background behind the portrait, you need to change "room". If you want the same planet settlement graphics, you need to change "city_graphical_culture".

I'm just looking to change the clothes, I wanting my pops and leaders to wear the imperial uniforms like the Empire pops.

I tried just switching the clothes textures for the Eriadu Authority but from what I can tell like 4/5 of the the human empires use the same portraits so if I change it, it changes for all the empires.

What happens now is like I say I can hover the Eriadu Authority and it shows the pops are the Imperials but the leader on the selection screen is still wearing the default green jacket and when I get in game my scientists, admirals, governors, etc are still wearing their default outfits.

My best guess from taking a few minutes to mess with it in vanilla and watching the custom empire file is that species class and species portrait should be what controls that selection.

The starting leader's portrait itself is being set separately in the ruler section of the empire's data. The only thing I could speculate to is the possibility that the portraits might behave strangely if the species is set to one set of portrait art, and the ruler is set to a specific portrait from another. I tested that by manually editing a test empire for vanilla humans to have a klingon humanoid 2 leader - after saving and reloading, the species was forced to load as humanoid 2 in the empire selection menu, while the leader portrait was forced to a default 0/0/0 human male. So you probably need to find a valid Imperial portrait name and use that for the ruler - unfortunately the only example given for the Imperials in the empire file is Palpatine himself, and I'm not sure where you would need to go to dig up a different one. Sorry I can't give a definitive answer but that may get you on the path to fixing it the way you want.

I did manage to change the leader by changing the "ruler" in the prescripted empires but I still havent managed to change the species portraits. Found some more stuff that needed to be changed under solar system initializers, went in and changed the portraits there, under prescripted empires, in species_class, etc but somehow its still magically not working.

Guess ill just keep playing with it, theres evidently 50 areas it needs to be changed.
