Can confirm this worked for me too.
Have you noticed any actual issues from it when you play it? I'm playing on maximum settings with an empire in early, mid, and late game and have noticed any issues. So if you're having any issues, I can look for them in my game too?
Only issue I encountered was when dx11 is enabled, the game will crash, other than that everything worked more or less like it should
The game runs fine, in fact Stellaris works better on 2.8 now and the mod works just fine with the update except for some minor bugs that have no effect on a playthrough.
As with every major update to a game and a mod I would not continue a save.
