Crusader Kings III

Crusader Kings III

Princes of Darkness
Can You Diablerize Lasombra?
So, every time I've tried this route, I get the failed outcome and only become a pseudo-3rd generation.

It fails because it says I don't know how to eat shadows. At first I thought this meant I needed to learn Obtenebration, but even after learning that and maxing it out, I still lacked the ability.

Now that Abyssal Mysticism has been added to the game, I'm wondering if I need to learn that instead?

So again, my question is: Can I actually diablerize Lasombra, or will this always result in a failed coup, regardless?

Make a deal with his traitor child.
You can.

Your thoughts are good, but too blunt. It's not always about your stats.

I am not entirely fond of devs' insinuations either, but I have to agree with them in principle. If anyone at all can give you an advice on how to eat shadows in style, it's their Queen.

Bene sapiat.

Oh come on you. Devs's influence blurred your judgement. She is no traitor, she is just drawn this way.
And yet you knew immediately who I was talking about.
In the books she installs her son as the fake Ventrue Prince of DC just to get her hands on nukes.
Who does she want to nuke?
Isn´t that treason?

I was fairly certain the Ventrue were protesting against the use of nukes, because they were afraid of getting caught in the blast if mortals started bombing cities.

Which one? The entire clan turned against him, so that doesn't exactly narrow it down.
The Ventrue are against nukes. Yet the Ravnos antediluvian gets nuked by a Ventrue - Krete/Creteus. Everybody is against nukes - in the hands of others.
As for his children: It is in her name, her path, her offspring.

Ravnos was nuked by the Technocratic Union dropping an orbital laser down on top of him. The only thing the vamps managed to do was keep him in position long enough to take the blast.
In one version of events Ravnos dukes it out with Kuei-jin elders. Starts to win. Unfortunately, the spell that keeps the daylight at bay is maintained by the people he is beating up. Also, they are having their brawl in India, near a major city. Others take note of the fight and the spell.
Dude then gets blasted with one nuke in the mundane world and a parallel one in the umbra - to kill his spirit too. Unfortunately, this also starts a maelstrom. Technocrats pulled the trigger. The brain behind it was a Ventrue -allegedly.
There is also a passage in the book of Nod about the biggest city being consumed by fire. Calcutta has quite the population. Had quite the population. Prophecy fulfilled.

Speaking of the Ravnos, It has recently come to my attention that back in 1st edition, Ravnos was revealed to actually be a member of the 2nd generation, having been embraced directly by Caine himself.

And after reading what high level mastery of Chimestry can achieve, I'd very much believe it. Ravnos could produce illusions that were so thoroughly convincing, that they would become reality through sheer belief in their authenticity.

In other words, Ravnos was effectively an Awakened Mage, without actually being one. He had the power to warp reality by shifting your perception of it!
Their clan discipline was OP AF in V20.
Still, I am kind of sad that V5 effectively edited most non-Camarilla clans out. They even censored dementation.

I recognized her by the question you were replying to. And it sounded to me like you mean that she is traitor to Lasombra, which is absolutely baseless.

If you want to call her a traitor because of Vitel affair, I won't stop you. I at least can understand where you are coming from. But I have to warn, you sound ridiculously human when you say that.

They're still around, but mockeries of their former selves.

Assamites and Lasombra joined the Camarilla, which is just flat out ridiculous for either of those clans to even consider the idea.

Tzimisce and the Followers of Set joined the Anarchs, which only makes sense if you squint really hard.

I'm unclear on what happened with the Salubri, but the Clans of Death remain Independent.
She tries to get nukes because she suspects that her younger brother failed in killing her sire.
Both the Sabbat, where most of her Clan hang out, and the Camarilla, where her oldest brother hangs out, are played off against each other to buy time. Now you could be generous and say that she is just loyal to herself. I´m just not that generous.
As for Assamites in the Camarilla: It is ridiculous for warrior Assamites. They would end up working for free. For the Vizier caste it makes sense. After all, they were created to win art contests against the Toreador. As for the casters, they just needed a place to crash after Ur-Shulgi went psycho on them. Without Quietus they are just sneaky Tremere with more independence and a drug problem.
V5 is just intended to be more noop friendly. Inexpirienced GMs had a hard time handling nasty combos like Obfuscation + Dementation. They may have been afraid of some controversy when you run stories with Sasha Vykos, Zettler etc. So the Sabbat had to go, infernalists had to go.
