The preview picture with lefty, how did you get the individual droplets on him? What's the name of the particle?

You can extract the textures that i used for droplets and just spam them in the texture used for the model, this will give you the best result like in this lefty and you can animate and move around with no problems, i recommend you do it in gimp/photoshop using overlay putting a lot of small droplets and some big ones, then you material override and $basetexture.
If you wanna do it with the particles you gotta go with the individual droplets i put there, it wont look as good because your only blending option is the alpha random and doing with the particle is a time consuming process, but it still works

It seems that just using the presets isnt really enough to get all the effects, how do I get the most out of this pack?
valance  [developer] 25 Dec, 2020 @ 6:20am
To get the most of this pack you have 2 options, 1 is do a first render pass with everything normally, lights, models etc, then disable all lights and put in the particles so you can have a separate mask for it, then, on a video editor, you put this black particle mask above the original clip and set it to screen or overlay, and as you are in a video editor with a clip exclusive for the particle, you can do pretty much anything with it

Your second option is play a little bit with the particle editor, it's not that hard as it seems, on the first times yeah it might be a little bit confusing but go and disable some operators, see what they do, change some values and look what happens, its a quick learning process actually, after you spent like 1-2 days messing with it you'll never have to "learn" about it again, then it's just changing operators, adding some, removing others to adjust it to your liking. (Also mixing a lot of particles together can create some good stuff, this could be done by spawning another one or instancing the previous and adding children]

So basically, presets can get the job done but i understand they aren't perfect, because even i have to change them everytime i use them in a scene, but atleast most of the work is already done, normally i just change the position they spawn[position within box random], number or particles being emmited, color, alpha and radius random[size]

But if you mix a very basic knowledge of the particle system + the masking method for videos, you can pretty much do crazy stuff, you do the basic shapes and visual on sfm then in a video you add the shakes, blur, and the glow, since particles cannot react or emmit light.
A good example of this would be the meanwhile single lightning preset, it's there but there's no glow for it, you would add that later in post.

Hi! I don't know i this has already been answered but... How exactly do i "get this"?

Is this a model, if so i can't find it.

If it IS a particle, how do I download it?
valance  [developer] 27 Apr, 2021 @ 7:05pm
Yo!!!
These are particles, not models, it's made of textures and parameters from the particle edtor.

To get my particle presets, all you gotta do is subscribe to the addon on it's workshop page, open up sfm, on the same place you spawn a model, there is spawn particle using particle system. Look up on C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SourceFilmmaker\game\workshop\particles
and my ".pcf" file should be there, double click my file, then select your preset, put in your time, lifetime for particle etc. once you're done with that simply drag the timeline to anywhere less than 0 seconds and go back.
Particles should be there
Be aware that they don't work like models and moving them like you would move a model do not update in the viewport in realtime, you'll have to switch to render view, then do motion editor or graph editor, it's a little bit of a tedious workflow sometime but most people don't really work with them a lot, so it gets as simple as spawning, moving, adjusting some stuff and done.

what type of fog and/or smoke particles where used for the third image?
valance  [developer] 29 May, 2021 @ 10:26am
both fog halloween, the ground one was pretty much close to default and on the ghost it was tweaked to match the size of the ghost + particle spawnrate
First starting to use the Particle Editor, so I'm a bit new to this particle system. Any tips for able to create these particle sets into Source Filmmaker? Basically try to find a way to put particle effects into a map, going to take some time to practice and get use to the Particle Editor.
