I've stated in the description how to use the tool. If using battle lines, mark them to create a region the NPCs you are affecting can stay within by facing inwards. Fill in the information in the control menu to the right when you have the tool equipped.
If you need any further information on how to use this, let me know and I'll do my best to explain it in a hopefully understandable way.
Left positions as in left the boundaries? Standoffs are sort of finicky and won't always restrict NPCs from stepping over them. It may be possible that the battle lines weren't fully closing an area. If you could describe how you set up your standoff, I could help you.
Another thing to note is that I was wrong with "facing inwards". What should've been done is to face outwards with the battle lines, as NPCs will stay behind them rather stay in front.
I may need to provide some screenshots, if you think so, let me know.
