Everything That isn't quite the same.
I am a big fan of Day of Defeat: Source, and have been playing it for a long time. I'm really glad that someone made good looking sweps with close function to the originals, however there are a few things that throw me off when using them. Just minor issues that wont be noticable to the average user, but they change how the weapons function compared to the orignal game.

1. Assault Rifle / SMG Accuracy.
In the original game, Crouching with an automatic weapon greatly decreases weapon spread and recoil. Normally the MP40 and thompson are pretty poor at medium to long range, but crouching would decrease bullet spread and recoil by about 40%.

This is also important for the BAR / STG44 where the high recoil impairs automatic fire at long range, but this is helped by crouching.

The SWEP does not seem to have this system, making the guns more unruely.

2. Sniper scope delay
Normally, the snipers will take about a second to scope in, so you would hit right click before you peak a corner, and the immediately tap shift to sprint, making the zoom in quicker. But even without the sprint tap, scoping in does have a momentary delay.

the SWEPS seem to lack the scoping animation and instantly scope in.
(in addition they mouse sensitivity should be lowered while scoped, but this doesnt seem to happen in the sweps)

All of this also applies to the M1 Garand and Kar98K

Other smaller issues
-The MP40 fires a bit too fast
-the MG42 / 30. Cal have MUCH too little recoil when not deployed.
-The stick grenades bounce too little and the allied grenades roll too much.
-The smoke grenades have a completely different particle effect than normal
-Grenades are thrown with not enough force
-The MG42 Lacks an Overheat system, letting you fire the entire magazine in one go.
-the unscoped rifles lack ironsights
-rifle Grenades shouldn't bounce away when shot at your feet (letting you pick them up and throw them)
-MG42 can be deployed in mid air
-Live Grenades cannot be picked up
-Melee Weapons have too much range
-The smg Punches would normally instantly kill on a headshot

Thank you for this great mod, These are the only issues i could find, and if fixed would truely make the Sweps Authentic

I also wanted to post another thing that could be adjusted & changed and that's the forced ammo limits.


I feel that they hurt other weapons since they're binded to vanilla ammotypes, if I want to have an OSIPR in my back pocket and a Garand in my hands, I don't want to suddenly see that my OSIPR suddenly has its ammo cut into ribbons because I wanted to use my Garand to snipe a few Overwatch Soldiers

It really limits the weapons you can pair these with and is very bothersome.

My solution for this is to:


A. Either cut it completely or add a console command to toggle it so that they harmonize better

B. Have the weapons use custom ammo types to lessen the strain on the other weapons you use. But beware of GMod's custom ammotype limit of 255
