I can't change their weapon preference but i'm pretty sure that the vanilla AI already prefer magnum over pistols.

yeah you sadly need Sourcemod to be able to force bots to use certain weapons. i have a plugin called "left 4 dead 2 survivor bot ai improver" that lets the bots diversify what weapons they pick up.

the vanilla bots do prefer the Magnum, however Coach will NOT pick up a magnum unless you command him to do so. no idea why but once you command him to pick it up he will never swap off it (unless he is picket to use a melee weapon for example, and he still will use his shotgun)

go into "itemstoavoid" textfile and put in "weapon_pistol"

then for safe measure, set "sb_max_team_melee_weapons 0" and "sb_melee_approach_victim 0" in the convars txt file.
