Targeting tips anyone?
I personally am having a hard time learning to use this. I've gotten within a few meters of my mark but never made a hit. Any veterans want to share their tips for using the TDC effectively? Whether targeting from periscope, map or a mix of both?

Hi Tamer,

do you know the manual for the TDC?

I have read the manual when I first got the mod and I did see the videos that are linked in it. I can hit my targets fairly reliably when I can set an ambush where I am ahead of my target and perpendicular to its course. I rely on my periscope in this case. I have found that making calculations based on the map, specifically calculations on AOB and bearing, to be unreliable due to how fast a situation can change. The problem I am personally having is those situations outside the example provided in the manual; odd ball situations like where I am forced to stalk my target from behind, maintain a minimum distance and attack from there. I probably wouldn't be having this issue if the game had the RAOBF that UBoats were historically equipped with, but it for now doesn't and nobody has made a mod for that yet. For that reason, I started this thread so people who are experienced with this TDC could share their tips and tricks for how to deal with the various situations they may be presented with using it. You guys have made a wonderful mod, it's just that it has a steep learning curve even with that manual. The more information that's out there, the better.

Here's a targeting tip: if you fire your torpedo directly off beam at a 90° angle with gyro angle close to zero (point the boat towards the target!), the torpedo will creep up on a perpendicular course to your target.

This means that if your speed measurement was correct, you will always hit the target, no matter the error in how you measured the distance.

Check it out, aim at a target at 90° AOB, twiddling the distance knob will have negligible effect on the gyro angle, maybe a couple a tenths of degrees at best.
