The Last Daylight
Kyle's Review of "The Last Daylight" - 4/5
A cozy autumn sidegrade. 4/5 stars.

The Last Daylight is a "what if" take on The Last Stand that showcases some cut ideas from the original, and it's neither better nor worse for it. If you like TLS as much as I do, you'll like this too! If not, I doubt it will convince you otherwise.

The only major weakness of this mod is that it doesn't change much in terms of gameplay and level design — it's not nearly as extensive as, say, Dark Carnival Remix. Still, I enjoyed the alternate paths and remixed crescendo events, and hearing what the L4D2 Survivors have to say about the situation is a fun touch.

What really makes this campaign shine is the atmosphere, though. The desaturated color palette and misty morning light creates an engrossing feeling of walking through the woods in late autumn. L4D2 takes place near the end of October, but I've never seen a campaign (official or otherwise) that captures the mood so perfectly. As the world's biggest fan of falling leaves, this mod gets a thumbs up.
