Bug Reports / Technical Feedback
Please be very specific when providing information. For example, if you experience an increased number of crashes with the mod, it would be helpful to include:

- What version of EE you're using (1.20 / 1.10), and what version of the mod you're using.
- Whether you were playing in singleplayer or multiplayer
- When the game crashed (e.g. while the mod loaded, or when the game loaded, or during gameplay either randomly or when a specific action was taken)
- What type of crash was it - did the game simply crash to desktop (CtD), or hang/freeze etc
- Were any of the optional changes being used at the time of the issue?
- Do you have other mods loaded (and were any of these mods enabled)?
- Basic system specs e.g. CPU / RAM / GPU / OS

CBP Launcher's log files can be found here:
/Rise of Nations/CBP/logs/

And just as an FYI - given how difficult CBP has been, I'd be kind of surprised if there weren't additional issues caused my human error on my part. CBP + Misc Fixes covers an enormous amount of changes.

Known Issues:
  • Non-English tooltips (for both the RoN itself as well as the CBP programs) aren't included because I'm not fluent and other community members have yet to step up to fill the gap. If you're able to, please do!
  • CBP Launcher Issues page on GitHub.[github.com]
  • I use the this Misc Fixes page to keep track of known and potential bugs with RoN more generally.

- no optional changes used
- one other mod loaded and enabled in the mod manager (CTW Menu Realignment)

UPDATE: below no longer required as of Alpha 4.

If you'd like to further help test stability, consider using this test mod which duplicates the original game files: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2313160974

Note: I'm interested primarily in the multiplayer stability of the test mod, although if you do actually crash using it singleplayer I'd definitely be interested in hearing about it.

I ran the game fine yesterday. Due to some other issues I completely uninstalled RoN, and then removed all of the left-over files in the game's directory. When attempting to reinstall CBP I get the following error:

https://imgur.com/a/B7J2jhC

I have no other mods running.

Specs:
i5-1135G7
Intel(R) Iris(R) Graphics
16GB Ram
W10 64bit

Any idea what's causing this and how I can fix this?

__

Edit:

Running CBPlauncher.exe in the workshop folder and then copying the files to the main directory of RoN seemed to have fixed this issue.

It seems like you had CBP loaded when you reinstalled (update: or unloaded, actually - I'm not 100% sure). Basically it's a use case not currently covered (my bad, didn't think of that!), where the launcher thinks CBP is loaded due to its settings file, but when RoN is reinstalled it loses access to the files it thinks it still has.

I'll add some kind of fix to the to-do list, thanks for reporting the problem. I expect it's something that can be fixed within the next few weeks, but I haven't dealt with that part of the launcher's code for a while so can't give a firm timeline.

It sounds like it's all working fine for you now (?), but if you run into a similar error again, you should be able to fix it by wiping your settings files by deleting all the folders located in:
%localappdata%\MHLoppy
Unless you have any other programs I've written that aren't related to CBP, these folders only contain settings related to CBP Launcher and CBP Setup. With those settings reset, both programs should be able to handle the rest, but give a yell if you have any followup problems or questions.

Thank you. I looked in my RoN AppData and removed all the leftover files, but that didn't work. Definitely wouldn't have looked for the MHLoppy folder haha! Great mod by the way :)

In the launcher that'll be bundled with the Alpha 8 update, I've added what I believe should address the above situation the majority of the time - it's not the cleanest but it was at least simple to implement.

During startup, the launcher will try to quickly check if RoN was recently installed - if it seems that it was and also if you've run the launcher before, it'll provide a prompt letting you reset the launcher settings before everything else loads.

This will have some amusing consequences if the there are any official patches in the future (it could false-positive this check for every single CBP user), but we can deal with that if it ever happens.

Fixed! Thanks for the report. (Steam might not download the update immediately though)

In the worst-case scenario the not-patched warning should only last for a maximum of two hours since your RoN reinstall.

It didn't appear anymore since the update, excellent work and dedication, thanks, I thought it was a weird bug that only happened to me and for that reason it couldn't be fixed, thanks for the fast response.

I have issues in running CBP on Mac OS with Crossover: After I followed correctly all the procedures for CBP install, I open RoN, the blue screen of CBP opens, a pop-up comes up, I select yes, the process continues but instead of opening RoN with CBP it just closes/crashes
I’m running a MacBook Pro 14 with M1Pro with the latest Mac OS version (Monterey) and the latest Crossover version
RoN runs fine without CBP (except audio but that is another problem)
I don’t have any other mods loaded

Based on a cursory look, unfortunately I think that's just a compatibility problem with Crossover. If you don't care about quickly loading/unload the patch then you can install it manually without using CBP Launcher - it's just a bit cumbersome. See the second half of here: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/workshop/filedetails/discussion/2287791153/2971776551518918150/#c3163209341715773492

I guess ideally we would have some kind of cross-platform fallback option for load/unload that doesn't involve doing it all manually, but there are no other code contributors.

Adjust the field of vision to the maximum, and a yellow circle will flash after the construction. How do you remove it

This isn't a bug or really technical problem, and isn't caused by CBP, so this isn't really a relevant place to post it.
