Dark realms too strong?

Are sauron and saruman too strong or am i a noob? Rohan and Gondor has 20k soldiers together vs 20k of Saruman and Sauron, but their maa's are so strong (urukhai berserkers, ologs, vs) they fight like a 30k strong army. Am i missing something? How to deal with it?
