Colonizing bums me out
I've really enjoyed playing the Orcs of Gundabad, but man colonizing takes forever and it really slows the game down. I really wish that substantially fewer counties needed colonization and/or it was a much faster process.

Yeah same here. I noticed they removed the cost for feudalizing the colonized holding once it's maxed out, but to be honest I still feel like there's no incentive either gameplay-wise or from a purely min-maxing perspective. It doesn't help that AIragorn tends to end up forming Arnor and becoming a local hegemon in most games, even if you disable lore accuracy.

Personally I enjoy the protracted process of colonization, but I wish it were more rewarding in some way. Right now the colony-related event odds are like 4-to-1 in terms of negative-to-positive ratio. I've started so many games by telling myself I'm going to patiently colonize for as long as necessary, but I always end up becoming a map-painter mid-game to block Sauron or whoever else is blobbing up.

It's been a few updates since I played, but can't you use your steward still to speed up the colonization process?

I was able to continuously colonize the max amount (3) at all times and have plenty of money to spare. I like to focus on money a lot, so that helps. But aside from waiting a few years for development, that's all you need; money. And not even a lot of it. If anything, it is too boring right now. As in: it's easy to colonize and hard to lose.

Also, what do you mean it takes forever? Colonizing an entire country from nothing to city can be done about as fast as building a single duchy building. I don't mind that from a gameplay perspective, but realistically speaking, it's too fast even.

I didn't mention money anywhere.

In the mountains, it takes decades to colonize.

I think it would make the northern edge of the map much more interesting if there were nomadic orcs/goblins that would raid and/try to settle in the realms there for orcs, they could be persuaded to join as event troops or to establish a colony in an adjacent colonizable province (but this could go awry and create a hostile event army).

For Dwarves or other Free People's realms, it would just be an Invading army.

This serves the dual purpose of making map edge gameplay more engaging and dynamic and also giving the small orc realms a needed boost.

The Orcs of Gundabad start in the mountains. They are surrounded by uncolonized mountain provinces. Its implied by saying "The Orcs of Gundabad."

Thanks for playing.

So? You litteraly say colonizing burns you out and note that colonizing takes forever. I don't think it matters much where you have issues colonizing, but if you think it has anything to do with the character or location, then perhaps specify that's where the issue lies? You are saying the issue is colonizing.

I've colonized mountains with an adventurer and united the misty mountains in it's entirety in 2 evenings. My point stands.

lmao, no it doesn't.

First you mentioned money, which has nothing to do with it.

Then you didn't know the start had to do with mountains.

You don't even play this, you're just angry about looking silly.
