Balin instata death.

things ive noticed: Something is wrong with Balin of the dwarves in the mountain he just dies instantly on every start. 2. Im playing elves but i cant get any mountain areas... and it tells me only dwarves and orc can colonize the mountains how do i get dwarves. Or are they off limits.
