Courtship
I really dont understand the implementation of courtship. I cant actually get my children married and without even more tedious management than normal? And often they fail so its an enormous increase to my time cost? Whats the deal here? Am i missing something?

Why? Why is it like this?

I also was hopeful about the courtship system, but there are a few major implementation problems. Notably, you can only marry between lovers, soulmates, and friends. However, lovers and soulmates are both *secrets* so you can't use that to quickly marry people together (you can succeed, but they have to be found out), and friendship requires your son our daughter to have the 'Befriend' perk, which has a 1 in 3 chance of appearing if they have a diplomatic education, and can't happen otherwise.

Adding on the fact that you don't get a notification when your child's befriend/seduction plot finishes, this means that I am finding it extremely difficult to get my children married before they become infertile.

I think it is telling that only the player has to use the courtship system, and the AI can marry freely.

Maybe a system where a random courtier of a similar age with desirable traits (for the child) appear when the children come of age if they have no friends / crushes / lovers? Not knowing the books I don't know if diplomatic marriages are non-existent, or if it is just culturally appropriate for a diplomatic marriage to be called off because the couple don't like each other.

I'm certainly turning off this feature until it is easier to use, and won't result in my handsome straight son usually being unmarried into his 30's for no fault of my own.

I don't know what you're on about regarding secrets. If a target is a lover, they will show up in the marriage list, and it shouldn't be dependent on secrecy.

The AI doesn't use the full restrictions primarily due to performance concerns. I could enable it for the AI but it would either slow down the game significantly or otherwise be utilizing the system poorly.

Diplomatic ("Political") marriages are a thing, but not in every faith. Hence why it's controlled by a faith doctrine.

The idea is cool but the problem is AI doesn't use it.
Two times the ladies I was courting, were snatched by AI, who just married them off.
All the system does, is being a nuisance to the player.
If the AI will use it, then it an even plain, but we all know how stupid it can be, so...
Sadly, I turned the feature off.

You can easily snatch characters before the AI does, because the AI doesn't marry off characters before they're 24.

First sorry for my english, i´m not a native speaker.
Maybe i don´t understand the function of it but it simply doesn´t work for me. I tried 4 times to court with different attributes and 100 Opinion from the courted ladies. The first 2 times teleported randomly from my end to the other end of the Map without marriage, so no interaction possible anymore. The other 2 were constantly on 100% and nothing happened. Even the one i got pregnant via an affair but still no chance to get a wife who is not at my court. Is this a bug or a feature?

Ya this courtship thing is kinda stupid. I mean i know you're trying to make the game more fun, but it just turns it in to a tedious mess.

I think this mod is amazing and blown away by the level of detail but this courtship system is also ruining the enjoyment of it for me. It would be ok if clicking on arrange courtship on one of my progeny didn't have me as both sender and receiver meaning there is no easy way to find options besides clicking individual leaders. Unless im missing something, is there a way to clear the receiver so I can see all options?

I've added a new interaction that works more like Find Spouse.

So has courtship been removed?

I'm new to the mod, and when I press the rings, I expected to get the Courtship events, but I only got normal marriages/betrothals.

The rings are for normal marriages. Courtship is for when your faith has the consensual marriages doctrine.

Oh okay, didn't know that. Thanks.

This courtship doctrine is kinda annoying, espacially when it is the third time you spent 2 years in courtship just to discover, when your lovers, that your acceptance score isn't high enough to marry. You end up with three lovers and no wife, which is not very canon in the end...

Andolin would like to quibble. though he ended up with many lovers that he then lost relatively quickly and 1-3 wives depending on how you decide to interpret Shallan's whole situation.
but while he was noted as an unusally romantic yet fickel boy in this regaurd courting multiple women before finding your mate itself isn't unusual in this world. meerly the sheer number and frequency with which his target of courtship changed.

Why is this even in there? In WoR, Dalinar tells Shallan, that he is being lenient with Adolin, but WILL marry him off to secure the succession.

Obviously Jasnah as the elder sibling to a very incompetent and weak king can refuse to be married, but she is the exception not the norm.

Edit: Alethkar and Vedenar while being slightly more fair than their real life counterparts are still patriarchal feudal monarchies.

This feature needs to be a choice, not a mandatory part.
