This might not be a question apropriate to the discussion, but how do I install mods?

Log into Steam.

Select the thumbs up button (optional) :)

Select the Subscribe button.

When you start your game, the Skyrim splash screen should display a message that it is updating your mods. Wait for it to finish before you select Play.

That should do it, but if you are still having issues, let me know.

I think Steam might have to be set to synchronize, so if that does not work, let me know.
Hopefully you might know about this: I'm using Cinema 4D to create the 3D models, but do you know of a way to import the existing ones from skyrim so I don't have to draw it all by hand?

MattTheLine: I don't have Cinema 4D. For help with importing into that software, I'd recommend the software's support or the Nexus forums or YouTube.

But are you asking how to export meshes and textures from the Skyrim - Meshes.bsa and Skyrim - Textures.bsa so you can import them into your sofware?

Hey, Eyegoblin. If you have the Creation Kit open, all you have to do is select Race on the left-hand column to see all of the races. Choose the race you want to change (player characters use the same race as actors) and double-click it. Select the Stats tab. The bonuses for each skill are listed there. You can raise or lower the bonus for each, or change the skills that have bonuses. The normal is 10. So if you put 15 in the Stealth field, for example, the starting stealth will be 25, instead of 10.

Eyegoblin:

All you really need is the Creation Kit, for starters. If you want to add new meshes (3D models) or textures (different colors for the 3D models) I will recommend programs for those tasks. If you want to do scripting, I have a good text editor I can recommend. Let me know.

Eyegoblin:

Also, if you want to learn how to do something, you can always open a mod in the Creation Kit and see how someone did it. Items that have been changed by the mod have an asterisk (*) next to them.

OK, let me know if you have more questions. (BTW, I'd recommend making copies of your mods as you make them, that way if you make a mistake, you can just rename and load the copy.)

hi so i posted some ideas on on of you're discussions:
i like to make my own mod out of those ideas (i already know how to change skill bonuses)
but i don't know how to create a passive power and a power that is useable once a day.
any tips?
sp0ckrates  [developer] 4 Oct, 2014 @ 11:48am
Eyegoblin:

You have to copy a spell (that is, the ability, power or lesser power) that is similar to the one you want (right-click a spell and select Duplicate). Then you have to copy the magic effect for that spell. For some spells, you have to copy the perk the spell adds. Then you have to add the magic effect to the spell and save the changes. If necessary, you have to add the perk to the magic effect and save the changes.

Now for an ability, you have to choose Constant Effect for the magic effect and Ability for the spell. For a power you can use once a day, you choose Fire and Forget for the magic effect and Power for the spell. For a power you use more than once a day, select Fire and Forget for the magic effect and Lesser Power for the spell.

Finally, you add the spell to the race. If it is a Power or Lesser Power, it will show up in the Powers menu. If it is an ability, it will show up in the Magic Effects menu.

I'd try doing something simple, for starters. Maybe give a race an ability, power or lesser power another race already has. (For example, you might add the Orc rage power to the Nord.) Even if you don't want to do this, it will be good practice to teach you how it is done. T

Finally, create a character and start a new game to make sure the changes you made are now working. To undo the changes, simply uncheck the mod you created before starting the game.
