MEC Trooper classes
  • The MEC Support is created from any class that can wield an assault rifle. They have three specializations. Reprogram focuses on hacking, both enemy robots themselves as well as general ADVENT systems. Guardian is about protecting the squad through both Overwatch and healing. Pressure is a build that takes a more aggressive approach to protecting the squad, by pulling aggro and being a front line menace.

  • The MEC Heavy is created from any class that can wield a cannon. They have three specializations. Shogun revolves around deploying explosives and flattening cover. Valkyrie is an aggressive shooting build that can go one on one or enage multiple enemies. Goliath is a durable tank build that can provide cover for smaller soldiers.

  • The MEC Sniper is created from any class that can wield a sniper rifle. They have three specializations. Spotter, even without a proper Holotargeter, specializes in painting targets for the squad. Jaeger is a true sniper, hitting single targets hard and handling the Artillery Cannon better than any other MEC class. The Archer row is somewhat similar to the MEC Heavy's Shogun, but with less emphasis on heavy weapons and cover destruction, and more emphasis on rockets and big damage over long range.

  • The MEC Assault is created from any class that can wield a shotgun (or certain other close-range weapons like primary pistols). They have three specializations. Warrior is a fast-moving build that is equally adept with an Incinerator or an Autocannon primary for close-range flanking. Marauder is a well-balanced build with both survivability and reliable attacks, and is the best option for mid-range with the Autocannon although it's comfortable up close too. Pathfinder is all about melee combat, both dishing it out and resisting it.

  • The MEC Hellion is created from any class that can wield a chemthower. My Arsonist class can also specifically spec into this MEC Trooper type. They have three specializations. Meltdown is a straightward "scorched earth" type of build that rewards aggressive movement and constant Incinerator attacks. Maniac contains a mix of tanking and alternatives to the Incinerator in terms of offense. Hydra is an Overwatch tree, standing out among many other Overwatch-focused builds thanks to the Incinerator's massive area of effect.

  • The MEC Protector is created from any class that can wield a shield (other than Templars in LWOTC). My Hoplite class can also specifically spec into this MEC Trooper type. They have three specializations. Fortification focuses on keeping the MEC Protector and their squad safe as well as some support functions. Door Kicker is a balance of offense and defense, and makes an excellent vanguard if the squad has lost concealment. Primal is all offense, mostly via melee attacks, some of which utilize a shield and some that don't.

  • The MEC Reaper is only created from Reapers. They have three specializations: Stealth, Saboteur, and Marksman, that are very similar to their respective specializations before their augmentation.

  • The MEC Skirmisher is only created from Skirmishers. They have three specializations: Hussar, Judge, and Tactician, that are very similar to their respective specializations before their augmentation.

  • The MEC Templar is only created from Templars. They have three specializations: Power Fist, Dynamo, and Sage, that are somewhat inspired by their respective specializations before their augmentation. Out of the 3 faction soldiers, Templars have changed the most from their original selves. Make sure you check out the ability tree.
