Bug Report
If something really odd happens with this mod, describe them here. And please read the following instruction:

Read Me First

  • Update the mod to the latest version.
  • If something looks / behaves different after an update of the mod, check the change note to see if anything is changed intentionally.
  • If something dramatically change for you after an update (something works completely fine before, and suddenly doesn't work), please describe in detail the way it changes and a consistent way (for you) to reproduce.
  • If your game freeze / crash on game load, or when loading the save, or on opening the research tab. Post your mod list (preferably leave only those that add new research project or change the research mechanics), and specify your mod settings.
    (Usually tricky bugs in the algorithm would be very difficult to solve if you have a HUGE mod lists (without distinguishing which mods add new techs) if I won't be able to download every single mod in the list to test it. So if it's convenient for you, every effort put to minimizing the mod list that's able to reproduce such bugs would make my life much simpler, which I would really appreciate.)
  • For Any non-fatal bug that only happens under certain circumstances: describe the process to reproduce it consistently. Along with your mod settings and specifying any mod you use that potentially affect the research mechanics (like adding items instant finishing a research, research project restriction etc.).
  • For Any non-fatal bug, that can be seen throughout the game: make a new colony with your mod list and this mod to see if the problem persists.
    • If not, try to remember and describe from what point the bug happen and what might be the cause.
    • If so, just describe the issue with your mod settings and any suspicion of mod conflicts.
  • For display issues, like research nodes overlaps with game UI element or overflow all over the place, be sure to mention your screen resolution and game UI scale setting as well.
  • I'm not able to make bugs magically disappear by just reading a brief description like "something doesn't work for me". So with the limited time and manpower, it would be the most efficient if we help each other instead of me sitting in front of my computer alone scratching my head for nothing. Thanks to everyone here who helps make this mod better <3.

Known Issues

  • Potentially conflicted with Vanilla Achievement Expanded that research progress can get stuck.

    Cause unknown.

  • The tooltip blinks when zooming out.

    It's a surprisingly complicated issue and I'm not confident when can I figure out how to fix it so it would probably stays for a while.

  • Progress tooltip isn't working properly.

    Same as above. Turn off that option if it doesn't work fine.

  • Arrow keys and WASD still affect the map.

    I simply don't know how to fix it, or know if it's fixable.

  • This mod breaks VFE: Medieval storyteller tech restrictions.

    Now it should enforce the techlevel restriction of Maynard, but I didn't change any other things so I'm not sure whether it actually works in general.

  • When zooming out, dragging nodes from research tree may be unresponsive.

    Cause unknown yet. But when it happens just scroll up and down for a little, the issue should resolve itself.

  • When zooming far out, dropping nodes on the right side of the screen would be unresponsive.

    Due to the implementation of zooming, the right side of the UI when zooming far out is not part of the UI (technically) therefore can't receive mouse event (including dropping).

    You can still drop to the far right of the research queue, the top part of the screen is part of the UI regardless of zooming level.

No worries, I’m happy to help. Here’s the gist[gist.github.com] with my mod list in the exact same order as in-game. As asked, I kept only the ones that add or update research projects, and if I wasn’t sure and it wasn’t obvious from a mod’s page, I kept it as well. Research Pal was switched with the forked version at this exact spot.

I tried the mod earlier today and had the same problem as @cce236df.

I already had my modlist here: https://sharemods.jacobrr.me/ModList/6df79c62-1487-49c4-9a72-a1f5f58024d0 but I'm not sure which mods add research, sorry. This mod was loaded in position 112 instead of Research Tree. Hope it helps =D.

Now the issue should be resolved.
Psychite refining is kinda at a weird position but the infinite loop should be gone.

At lower zoom levels (zoomed out) mousing over techs for tooltips and highlights starts to break. It's diffucult to produce any specifics, since it seems to be random and a bit different every time. One of the issues I've had is a zone coming in from the top edge of the screen where mousing over doesn't function. That zone expands as you zoom out further. I am using a 4k monitor.

In what way highlight start to break? Did you update your mod to the latest version? Does it still flash or something?

I also noticed the annoying flashing tooltip when zooming out and will (hopefully) fix that in near future.

As long as the latest version is the one uploaded on the workshop, I am using it.

I get a crash on load if I use the option to separate research topics into tech levels. I do have a lot of research topics.

Ouch, take it easy. I believe as long as you are not flying through the nodes (I know it's a lot to ask) it should ... be fine.

The new patch resolves some potential issue and should make highlighting more stable. Try it out and see if there are still problems.

Turning off the option does indeed work fine. I can load a save, open the research tab, select researches, the works. It's weird that the crash happens on load, not on game start (where the tree actually generates).

If you didn't turn on the "delay generation" option, the layout should be generated on load.
