I'd suggest being able to craft generic ammo (Civilian, Military, and Ranger+ high cal variants) into these special ammo types, rather than buffing special ammo type spawns. For example, a full box of civilian ammo could equal a 9x19 box of ammo. This way, military spawns won't be clogged up by special ammo type spawns, but you'll still be able to use the weapons, and it would be a treat to find the specialized ammo for your weapon of choice.
So if ammo is hard to find now, it will definitely be fixed soon, ETA a few days. You will also be glad to know that support for vanilla ammunition is planned, but since it's a lot of work to edit every single magazine individually this will only come later.
Some other future plans related to this are:
- Add refill compatibility between all mags of the same ammo type i.e all 9x19mm mags can refill each other and whatnot (this might be than vanilla ammunition support altogether)
- Add large bulk ammo crates that can store 100-200+ rounds of ammunition
- Completely redo vanilla spawns, make items spawn in different locations and not just at military locations
