Gods Of The Arena - Hero pack (Modular)
How to fix mods for patch 15 and Radious mod compatibility
Update: the mod has been fixed properly now anyway so this guide is unnecessary. However I'll leave it up in case anyone is interested in playing with the DB tables or want's to try and apply the same fix to other mods.

To be clear: the mod is now fixed!!!! this guide is now purely informative!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (if you manage to re-brake this mod don't blame me!)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This guide describes the rough method used to fix problems caused by the building chain changes in patch 15 (emperor edition), and how to avoid potential conflicts with Radious mod. It is now unnecessary for the God's of the Arena mod, but may still be useful for others which have not been updated. (or simply as a first intro to playing with db tables)

1. Download the pack file manager http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?618353-PFM-3-2-DB-schema-improvements

2. Make a copy of the God's of the arena mod, and rename it so you don't get mixed up.

3. Open your new copy of the God's mod in the Pack file manager and navigate to:
+DB
--Building_units_allowed_tables
--MFH_building_units_allowed

4. Now under the heading "building" you need to replace the at least one set of building assignments per charterer with ones we know work from other up to date mods (I just consulted the equivalent table in Radious mod to copy the names). I had some issue with anything but the standard barracks buildings though so I recommend you use those.

e.g. for the four spartan Hero's I make sure that each one had assignments to the Hoplitae barracks, in this case
greek_military_heavy_5 | Gre_Dilios_Of_Sparta
greek_military_heavy_4 | Gre_Dilios_Of_Sparta
greek_military_heavy_3 | Gre_Dilios_Of_Sparta
greek_military_heavy_2 | Gre_Dilios_Of_Sparta

The above means that Dilios of Sparta can now be recruited at any level 2 Hoplitae baracks or above. This should work for Athens etc. too as they use the same building chain. For Rome it would be "rome_military_main_2" etc.

it also means that only the hero's you update will be available to the AI too, so you have a degree of customisation there if you don't want to have to deal with enemy hero's, or only vs specific factions.

Just overwrite some of the existing building assignments on the table, they don't work at the moment anyway.

5. This may or may not be necessary but I did it anyway to play safe. Right click the "key" column, there should be an option for "renumber cells". Select this and enter: 66666501 in the pop up window. Realistically this can be any number string not used by other mods but I know this one causes no conflicts with Radious or any other mods I'm running.

(Note: if you do this for more than one of the Gods of the Arena packs (or any other mod for that matter) then you need to make sure the numbers don't overlap e.g. you could change the last 6 to a 4/5/7/8 etc. for each mod so there is always 1000 between the number strings)

6. Drop your new mod file into the data folder and use Mitch's mod manager to set the load priority (stock launcher won't let you do this). Make sure to un-select the original mod so it doesn't load and conflict with our new one. http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?618536-Mod-Manager-Updated-25-04-14

Gods of the arena should be loading after Radious mod (i.e. higher up the list)

7. ?????

8. Profit!

The same method should work for any of the other 3 Gods of the arena mods but I have yet to test them.

All the best and I'll try to answer any questions to the best of my ability (I'm really not an expert though).

N.B. If you want to change the faction availability for a particular unit while you are in there you can go to:

+db
--units_to_groupings_military_permissions_tables
---MFH_units_to_groupings_military_permissions

Though you will have to adjust/add to the building assignments accordingly to be able to recruit them in campaign.

e.g. to make Goliath available to Sparta, you need to assign him "greek_military_heavy_2" etc. as before then change his "military_group" to sparta.

He should then be recruitable like the other Spartan heroes. (or whoever with whoever).

Custom battle permissions are completely separate and have no bearing either way on campaign availability, you can find them under:
+db
--units_custom_battle_permissions_tables
--MFH_units_custom_battle_permissions

Just switch around one of the entries under "faction" or create a new one if you don't want to loose one of the existing assignments.
Edit: MrMarko is back :D

I'll leave this guide up as it might still be useful for people who want to learn how to edit mods, but it should no longer be needed.
