Cycling overlays affects a Mounted Overlay
I can't say for certain if this was working differently before one of the recent updates but am pretty sure it was.

Once you mount an overlay (in my case, specialized on a hinge), the overlay is displayed correctly with or without any tools/blocks being selected in hot bar, but of course, if you point a tool at a different block, you get the overlay appearing.

Now, since I would prefer to only see the overlay for the hinge block that it is mounted to, I 'Ctrl +' to cycle to "No Overlays" (not while pointed at the hinge block, if that even matters) but while cycling the overlays, it is also cycling the overlay that is mounted to the hinge, including the "No Overlay" mode.

Note, even after cycling the overlay mode to No Overlay, I still get the notification that explains to press 'Shift R' to unmount/change mounted overlay don't remember exactly how the notification is worded).

This isn't expected behavior is it?

Nothing changed about that, it was always cycling overlay modes globally.

And yes the notfication about lock-on overlay still shows up to indicate it remains that way, it also reduces confusion later if one forgets they had it locked on and turn on overlays or they leave its range and see that something turned off.

So are you asking that overlay cycling be per overlay instance?

I should have clarified that I didn't think/have an issue with the notification being displayed. Only mentioned that because I thought the main subject wasn't working as intended and thought it'd provide a bit more info for you.

Now regarding the main subject, yeah I personally would prefer mounted overlays to be locked to the overlay mode that was used to set it. I may be overlooking an obvious scenario that makes the current functionality very useful, but can only think of a couple minor scenarios that I personally don't think would ever impact my gameplay.

Using the mounted overlay is very useful for when building based off of the info it provides, but can be distracting when it is showing up on other blocks too.
