Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Save Our Station! - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

This post serves to (hopefully) clear up any questions you may have about the mod.

Can I add this to an existing save?
No - due to Save Our Station containing new buildings and areas, you will need to reset or start a new world for the weather stations and other areas to correctly load.

I see two mods listed when in my game, do I need them both enabled?
Yes - If you are playing in Knox Country, enable both the Save Our Station - Core and Save Our Station - Knox Country mods for the full experience. The mods are separated in case weather station support is added to additional maps in the future (e.g. Louisville).

If you want just the new locations, without the changes to the behavior of the Emergency Broadcast System, enable only the Save Our Station - Knox Country mod.

How do I listen to the Automated Emergency Broadcast System?
The Automated Emergency Broadcast System (AEBS) is a vanilla radio station, and appears on a randomly selected frequency.
The best way to find it is to check the channel presents on any radios or walkie talkies you find in the world. To learn more, refer to the PZ Wiki.[pzwiki.net]

When, and how often do interruptions/faults occur?
Once the Knox Power-Grid fails, you can expect an interruption or fault to occur about once every few weeks.
Timings and frequencies can be adjusted with the provided Sandbox Options.

How do i differentiate between a Fault and an Interruption?
Interruptions happen very quickly - there is usually little warning prior to a service outage due to it being, well, an outage.
However, the message provided by the system will be very clear in differentiating between Faults and Interruptions.

The Emergency Broadcast Integrity reports an issue, but doesn't give a location and/or diagnostic code!
It takes some time for the Emergency Broadcast System to fail. Pay attention the color of the Broadcast text - it will turn red once a location and diagnostic code are being broadcast, and timer starts counting down to a permanent failure.

How often should I check for failures?
It takes time for the systems to fail and self-diagnose, and you'll be given plenty of warning before it fails completely. Depending on your Time Multiplier setting, once or twice per day should suffice.

In the event of bad weather, you should consider listening more frequently - the weather can isrupt the radio signal, causing you to partially miss important information (such as Diagnostic Codes or the Location of the Fault).

The network seems to be failing but I still got my weather report, what gives?
The Emergency Broadcast System is built with many fail-safes, and will try its best to report whatever information it can before a complete failure occurs. It will, however, eventually fail completely if the player does not intervene.

When the network fails completely, can I still fix it?
Yes - in case of a complete failure, a location and diagnostic code will be broadcast until the player performs the necessary maintenance.

Can I fix faults at any weather station?
No, repairs must occur at the location specified during the Emergency Broadcast System's Integrity report.

What does the control room look like?
It's a drab green room with blue radar terminals, usually found on the second story of a building with red and white antennas anchored to its roof.

I'd like to add a weather station to my own map, can that be done?
Of course! Contact Spacew00t and/or YoshiWoof22 in the Project Zomboid Discord's #mapping channel to get started!
(That being said, balancing the travel times between stations is very difficult - we do not have a proper way of balancing this yet, but are working on a solution)

Is there an update roadmap?
Whilst we have some ideas for expanding the mod, doing so will certainly take some time. That said, we're working on a roadmap to give some details on the scope and content of future upcoming updates - this will be on the mod's GitHub Page[github.com].

What & Where is ZULU-666?
Massive spoilers ahead, view at your own discretion. This info CAN be found in-game:
Consider visiting the Military Base in the forest near Rosewood. You will find a new path within the woods...

(MODDING) What map cells are the stations located in?
You can find this info in the Map (In-)Compatibility Discussion post.

Future entries to this FAQ will be added as time passes. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to leave a comment!

Suggestion, put this line on the main mod page so people will know without going in FAQ discussion section

Thanks for the feedback, good call. I partly blame Steam for making discussions hard to navigate, but oh well...

Will look into adding the info to the main description :)

Is this MP compatible?

Yes, we have support for both Locally-hosted MP and Dedicated Servers!

For Dedicated Servers, there is a dedicated Discussions Post with instructions - You can find it here..

Hope that helps! ^^

Hi. For those starting the game on settings with immediate power shut down, how can they track the station that needs a visit? I tried listening to EBS a few times but nothing appeared.

What exactly do you mean by "but nothing appeared"? Are the Vanilla PZ AEBS messages showing?

The power being shut off shouldn't affect the AEBS (at least not with Save Our Station) - in fact, with default settings, faults/interruptions will only start to occur after the power goes out in the first place.

I suppose you could try turning off the Sandbox Option for "Require Knox Power-Grid Shutoff" in SoS - it technically shouldn't matter, but it might still be worth trying.

SoS should work fine regardless of the current power grid state - In fact, I sometimes play with the power grid being turned off aswell, via "10 Years Later", and it works fine in there.

Does electricity need to be present for the station to give out broadcasts?

No, as under a default configuration, the Knox power grid needs to fail for the stations to start breaking down.

Think of it like the stations have their own long-term backup generators (one of the possible failures is having to "refuel" it using a filled gasoline can).

I'm currently playing with the hardcore setting where it doesnt give you a location or diagnostic code, will it tell me what is wrong when I right click a terminal or do I need to have all the different repair items on me to be sure?

Cool to see someone use the new harder settings ^^

The repair context/interaction menu will tell you what you need still, but that menu only appears in the station that's broken down - so you will only know whats wrong & what you need to fix it when you get there.
