AEBS radio strings not loading correctly
Hi,

We're running SOS on our dedicated MP server, been trying to get SOS working correctly. Attempting to join the server we kept getting:-

Though the files did exist on both server and multiple clients. Checked the config, load location etc. All looked correct. So... as a bodge workaround, checksum was disabled. Able to connect.

However, now AEBS gives:-

Any ideas?

Hey there,

RE: Error #1 - not sure what thats about, as its the first time seeing that kind of error (outside of what someone reported last year where the file names didnt match).
The Core_Items file in SOS has not been changed in years, so that's certainly not a bug that we introduced with any of our 2 "recent" updates.

I suspect a corrupted download to be the culprit for it. You may want to try forcing a redownload on both the client and server.

As for Error #2 - This is now the second time I'm getting this report in the last month, which is a bit concerning, as it has not been reported in the last 2 years up until now.

What I do know is that the original root cause for the issue was solved way back then already; The server translation strings didnt get loaded on game initialisation by default, so we added a function where we load them ourselves.

The issue is - I'm unable to reproduce this issue on both my own server and a server of a friend group.

I'm currently trying to find out what the possible cause could be. Any additional information regarding your server environment would be immensely helpful (along with a proper issue report on our GitHub)

Hi Yoshi, thanks for the reply! I'll try to get over to github later and post something there.

What info would you like re:server? Can grab configs etc. It's a dedicated server hosted by a provider but obviously have FTP access to get whatever files may help for diagnosis.

Yeah - configs, log files, mod list, world file. Just whatever you can reasonably provide that you may think would help with the issue. The more info the merrier - though I obviously don't want to make you guys go through too much effort for this.

Im currently trying various ways to see if i can somehow reproduce the behaviour on my end, whilst also thinking of other potential fixes to the original issue that may also work to remedy it.

Quick Update; I just checked your image with the weird AEBS strings again now that I'm properly awake.

I just noticed that the SOS strings themselves ("Broadcast System Integrity" and "Condition Nominal") seem fine. The other strings that are erroring above are not actually from SOS.

Do you perchance have another mod that could interfere (e.g. a radio mod that interacts with the weather strings)

No nothing else should be affecting radio. We have some QoL things in, a few of the popular ones like firearms remastered, filibusters, nothing that should be interacting with the radio (at least on the face of it?)

Might be good to get a modlist to check then. I'm honestly not sure what else it could be.

I still suspect a corrupted download to potentially be a culprit though, especially for the file error.
If you can, try a game file verification (you may have to ask your provider for that - i lack experience with PZ server providers sadly)

Thanks for the advice so far. I'll see what i can do tonight re pulling files and getting some logs. Will see if we can get a veri too.

Maybe we just need to do a refresh of the server from the top and rebuild the modlist if there's something corrupt? The weather reporting is liveable for now? Can (kinda) make out the messages.

Might be worth a try - but what i can tell you is that the messages SOS displays seem fine (condition nominal, etc.), and whatever is causing the issue seems to be doing something to the vanilla weather entries.

Could also be a vanilla bug honestly, but its still really weird. Especially coinciding with that other report of a similar issue, where only SOS's entries were not working (and all the files are verified and good)

Just wanted to stop by and update. We did a verify and that did seem to clear it up. I guess the original files had an issue somehow? Just wanted to say thanks for being so quick and responsive in your replies. Really appreciate it. Looking forward to see what happens with 42!

Glad to hear it got resolved - and yes, B42 will be very interesting. Once we get the official mapping tools, we'll be getting to work - I got plans for it.

Basements, new lore, stuff like that. Maybe, just maybe - provided I can properly learn mapping - new stations for the newer map areas, coinciding with an overall rebalance of AEBS failures (so its not as punishing to get a failure on the other side of the map)

I'll likely upload a "bleeding-edge beta" for B42 SOS at some point during development, so people playtesting B42 can also playtest SOS if they want, without me having to bother Spacew00t constantly to update the main mod on my behalf.

But this beta would absolutely be bleeding-edge, and there will be multiple disclaimers about potentially breaking savegames during updates, especially as the map would receive updates.

Sounds fun, looking forward to it! Thanks for all your work with this mod and keeping it alive and kicking!
