Florida Civ
For Florida's leader you could choose Andrew Jackson, the first official governer of Florida, Henry Flagler, known for Flagler college, or Juan Ponce de Leon, the Spanish conquistador who discovered Florida.

Yeah, I was also thinking that the UA could be something swamp related, like +2 food from swamp tiles or something like that

I've got some solid progress on Florida. Went Andrew Jackson at first, then changed it up. I like the swamp idea.

Ok, well I think Stephen Foster's song "Old Folks at Home" (Suwanee Ribber) would be a good choice, what do u think?

Florida should get massive tourism and science boosts
Please do not consider Andrew Jackson a leader of Florida. I was born and raised in Florida, and nobody ever thinks of Jackson as a cultural leader of the state. And on top of that, Andrew Jackson was a terrible person (so was Ponce de Leon, really, but Jackson is more infamous in modern times and less relevant to Florida).
But aside from that, I agree that tourism, ocean resources, and (after flight is researched) science should be more emphasized. Florida is a unique place, and has been a crossroads for many industries and types of people throughout modern history.

Just some of the things Florida is known for: fishing, boats, NASA and space research, tourism, theme parks, old people, Cubanos and Caribbean Islanders (Miami), being a key "swing state" in politics, drugs (especially cocaine), weird crime, hurricanes, brutal tropical heat, and alligators.

Also, Florida has a deep history involving railroads and highways. That should definitely be taken into consideration.

true in florida no-one gives a ♥♥♥♥ about jackson, we care a little about Ponce de Leon but he is only remember for "discovering" florida and dying because of natives in florida
Ponce de Leon was also an enormous ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, fwiw. He killed tons of innocent natives, gave his crew permission to rape the women, and subjected his crew to terrible conditions on land and at sea. He's basically only famous because his expedition reached Florida without dying en route.
