Hamerok: An Orc Stronghold for a Dovahkiin
G20  [developer] 2 Apr, 2014 @ 11:22am
The law
The overground of Hamerok is, I believe, very much to the Orc style, hopefully with more Orc than the vanilla Strongholds, beneath lie some elements which are more refined, A libarary, extensive armory and other things.
The Creation kit has some limitations, hence all strongholds are identical, though there might be some resources which would be nice to get hold of if someone knows of any? I'm not realy into using resources which add new textures, It normally makes the mod too heavy :(

To defend my decissions:
The under area is not really for the rest of the Orcs, just the Dovahkiin, and that's the basis on which I worked it with different elements of the creation Kit.
In the Armory, this is how I like my items displayed, I'm quite experienced with the CK and could make all the mannequins Orcs, put hay bales and hay around, but to me that would not show off my collection as I would like.

The shields arn't just shields, but mark a shield rack where a shield may be displayed.

As for torture victims there are possible reasons why orcs might have some captives.

I feel there's alot more lea-way with what might be going on.. the site may not always have been an orc stronghold but rather have been built on other things. After all who would think an Orc would be the Gormet or in a job like urag.

Please let me know what you think here.

I'll probably end up with people complaining that they cant find the trolls, but I'll have a go ;)

you could have them around the stronghold but you dont have to change it. I really like the mod though. Thanks for making it.

From what I've seen inside the Stronghold, I do like it a lot. A bit sad that only one of the female orcs was marriagable, but well, just a minor problem for me ^ ^ (Still would love more Orcs for Orcharem XD )

However, when I installed the mod I did not go to Hamerok immediately. But when I finally made my way there, I came from the west and did go to it rather quickly...but only to find that all the trolls were lying dead inside the Stronghold, with 3/4 of the civillian orcs slain (Only Bard and mage / enchanter were alive. One male Warrior also was dead. So yeah, maybe lock the Stronghold itself too if you don't want those trolls to be further away. Cause it kind of sucks that I neither got to kill them myself AND that they killed all those orcs, especially the civillians @___@

Though, gonna turn off the mod now, load the save from after I found it, save without Hamerok and then reload, hoping to be able to kill the trolls before anyone is slaughtered.
I just hope this won't break anything @___@

Okay...worked...Trolls outside, but one female Orc (Boe) somehow manged to get outside the Stronghold. And you DO have it locked...so I wonder even more how those Trolls managed to get inside before @___@
Maybe create a nearby camp with the maingate key lying on the floor or in a chest. Though, a chest would be kind of...strange for a troll, wouldn't it ?

I don't think trolls can use keys, I have played throught alot of times and that never happened to me yet, I'll try again, with a wait before I go there and see if somethhing similar happens. Thanks for letting me know so I can improve it ;)

Yikes. I made it there finally, but I approached from the north jumped down in the hold before I figured out where the trolls were. They alerted and came in the hold...probably the same way I did, and killed almost everyone in the hold. I didn't really get a chance to look around or anything. :( Will pick up at an earlier save and level some more before trying again.

Gorgeous collection of orcs, wonderfully detailed stronghold that actually looks like it could maintain life contrary to all but one of the vanilla versions.

There's one fella with beggar lines though and considering how "charitable" orcs are towards the weak, i don't see a wretch being allowed to live in a stronghold.. period.

It's a relatively minor thing though, i gather having adequate storage space is not appealing to everyone but i happen to enjoy that.

A bigger thing would, in fact, be the prison.

You'll note there is but one orc prison guard in the game, an attractive specimen in markarth's sidna mines whom obviously is not part of a stronghold anymore.

Orcs don't take prisoners or dabble in cowardice like torture, they kill their enemies...

That's what I like, an argument with conviction, grit and integrity :)

That skinny begger orc must be so shamed, I'm sure a real orc would rather die than live like that.. It would be cool if he was secretly planning to regain his honour, clearly he is deranged for an Orc!
What I think I'll do is put a journal in his pocket.. Thius has given me some food for thought, any ideas on how it could possibly be right ;)

Well he could for example be recently disgraced, or perhaps he's grown too old to even work in the mines and is about to be sent to go out and find his last battle? Like the random orc one encounters on the road occasionaly whom asks the dragonborn to kill him in combat :3

There's allso potential in your suggestion that the stronghold was built on the remnants of perhaps a fortress, the tribe is numerous enough to perhaps be one of the oldest lineages and
lore suggests orcs settled in skyrim before the nords did so this could be like a parent tribe to the smaller strongholds dotting the map.

Plenty of options to explore and thanks for sharing your work, i'm really enjoying it.

I don't know. I'm not trying to hate on your build or anything, I'm just thinking a few too many of everything. Just seemed like too many bookcases, too many weapon racks, too many plaques. Maybe it's because I'm used to vanilla skyrim where it has plenty of storage, yet presents it well and keeps it from looking over-cluttered. I'm a hoarder myself, but too a limit, usually the only thing I need are some weapon plaues for Deadric Artifacts and armor racks for armor sets. I feel like Vanilla doesn't give enough armor racks, and in some of the houses it's just not enough. I care for a good contrast of beauty and design. Something that makes it more than just a house, or a place to store things. I've been looking for a nice place but have yet to find the "perfect one". I really like the stronghold, it's well-built and looks great. I just like lore and vanilla a bit more than "unique". Keeping doing what you're doing, this is a good mod.
