you need to let it attack you (on foot, and dismounted) and it will let you feed it during combat. some attacks let you feed it so when you see the feed thing during an attack you instantly get close and feed it.

i reccomend a mammoth or any creature that can lower the damage of other creatures so you don't get crushed so easily (also, bring some health brews).
