Irrigation pipes for farming and water supply [B41+]

Indoor farming in winter using irrigation pipes ?
Hi,

First of all thank you for continuing this amazing mod !

I had no issues to connect my sink and washing machine using a water barrel connected system one floor above them.

But when it comes to set an indoor farming system I struggle. Since the irrigation pipes cannot go through walls there is no way for me to make an indoor farm (a fully closed area) capable of handling the winter cold (I'm playing with the "cryogenic winter" mod by the way so winter is constant and temperature goes below 60 °C).

Any workaround to solve the issue would be very much appreciated :)

What would be great :
- either to be able to set irrigation pipes through walls
- or be able to connect a sink to a water barrel
- or be able to connect a water barrel from the top floor to another water barrel placed on the floor below
- or be able to manually transfer water from one barrel to another but in a faster way than the game allows you in its vanilla state

Thank you again for your time and efforts

Hey.
few things:
- pipes can go via wall for some time now, past version was allowing only in doorways, so you should be OK.
- You could in theory link sink to your furrows using pipes (as still this is allowed in mod to take water from sink) and vanilla pipe sink to rain barrel above.
- I do plan to add gutter system (will take water from barrel above barrels) but not in close future - this mod is based on 5+ old code and loads needs to be changed before it will be expanded (and I also want to see what next beta will do to farming)

Hey,
I didn't even try to connect pipes through walls or link sink to furrows since I thought it was theorically impossible. I'll give it a try.
Thank you for these information :)

Also, for people out there who would like to warm up the indoor crop area during winter and save themselves the pain from having to constantly refuel an antique oven, there is this nice mod that adds heaters to the game (the bigger heater requires a high skill level in electricity so it is more an end game feature). And this "heater" mod is also nice to use along with another mod adding a solar panel + battery bank system (for almost total power autonomy) which is also an end game feature.
I don't know yet if rising the temperature inside the crops room (let's say from below 0C° to 20C°) helps your crops growing faster in winter. I'll have to run some test.

Can you drop link to heater mod? not sure if this is the one I saw (and it was bit cheat-y, so i did plan to make my own)

On temp note - I think, temperature was not affecting speed nor harvest amount. Too low (below 10C) temp was causing health to go down.

Here it is :

According to the owner of the mod, it is currently on work in progress.

What do you mean by cheaty ? To be built, it requires different ingredients + some knowledge from books + some specific item like those heater circuit to be found into the world + a minimum electrical skill level (maybe for this last one the required eletrical skill level could be higher)

About the temp influence on crops, I really whish i was able to properly read the developer's code in order to get the answers since the wiki is not always comprehensive.

By the way, if you ever need a specific 3d asset for any of your mods, let me know. I'll be glad to make one for you.

nah, was using some other one that was building them from scrap metal and used small battery for days heating. this one looks good.

Farming meant to be re-done in next PZ so we will see what they will change :D

And on assets, will keep in mind but also Aragon (2nd dev on this mod) is doing those for me ;)

Indeed. With the build 42 on his way and its whole new crafting system they might revamp lots of things. So it might be wise to wait until then.
Speaking of, I started to make a comprehensive list of all the things I would like to see being improved in the game (half of those things being related to late game playthrough). I will post this list on the forum in the suggestion section soon. It might give you some ideas for your mods ;)
