[Notice] Two Words about YouTube support!
This thread is outdated, go to this one:
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/workshop/filedetails/discussion/246756300/1640915206446609230/

Youtube Support is disabled by default:
The January 2018 update changed the YouTube support to be disabled by default. This can enabled by the user in the settings or in the help window. This will force the user to acknowledge that problems with the YouTube support can not easily fixed by me. That's because it relies on three independent third party services.

Doing tests I noticed that the new YouTube converting system is still quite slow and a bit unreliable. That's also why I desided to disable it by default. It can also break everytime without notice.

Using converters:
This addon uses three independent automatic YouTube converters when you enter a YouTube URL (NOT converter URL). So there should not be any need for using other converters.

These are the converters, that are used by this addon:
  • youtubetoany.com (Disabled, because offline)
  • youtube-mp3.info (Disabled, because broken)
  • break.tv

Any issues with any converter services (above ones included) are not fixable by this addon.
If one of them fails, the next one from the list will try to convert the video.

Why not use an other API or services?
Because they are hard to find and often unreliable aswell! At the moment there is no better way to play from YouTube without having to setup and pay an expensive server that would have to handle a lot of traffic.

But other addons can play YouTube much "better"...
Yeah they can because they usually use the crappy and unstable Awesomium ingame browser as a hidden sound source. It likes to kill the performance and to crash the game often. This radio addon does not and will never use Awesomium.

The point of this addon
Remember playing from YouTube is not the main point of this addon. It's optional and was added because people asked for it quite often. I however recommend to use the radio for internet radio streams and online files only.

How to make to make it work?
  • Retry later. This mostly works.
  • Read the help and do what it says.
  • Use an (different) YouTube converter webpage that works.

one extra way to convert YT videos, take any YT url, add "conv" into between www. and youtube.com/... it should look like this: www.convyoutube.com/...

It's a nice idea, but this would not work well with the radio as you get an html file instead the mp3 download. Convyoutube.com does not seem to have an open API, so it's useless for an automated build-in support the radio currectly has.

The currect one works most of the time. Often people just don't follow the given instructions and/or are doing strange things.

What is error 421? I was following the steps from the instruction you gave in that post, but i use this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdN7CzbkfTE and when i spawn in it says "Error 421 Playing Stream: Unknown Error".

This video is to long. This is a different error than 410. I need to add the error description for that error, so my bad. ;)

Still won't work

Youtube support makes only trouble for me and I can not fix it, so I will disable it in the next update.

Since Youtube support is unusable now since the converter is down, how are we going to source sound now?
Grocel  [developer] 18 Nov, 2017 @ 9:53am
The way you always could: Via radio streams or via files (locally or online), in the FAQ there should be more infomation about that.

You could also try to use a youtube converter yourself. But if it does not work, than it is not a problem with that radio, because the generated MP3 URLs usually are one-time-downloads by intention.
Most converters don't have an API, so convertion can not be done automatically (as it used to be) by this addon.

Thanks, Grocel.

did you say your onna make it so youtube urls wont work with the next version of the radio?
Grocel  [developer] 18 Nov, 2017 @ 4:10pm
I will disable auto conversion of Youtube URLs, because the converter is broken/down. So just entering Youtube URLs will no longer work by itself. Anything else is explained above.

this site work: http://youtubemp3.to/

How to make:
1. Go to: http://youtubemp3.to/
2. Enter youtube link and click - Convert
3. Click RMB on ,,Download'
4. Click ,,Copy Link''
5. You link must like a ,,http://srv6.youtubemp3.to/download.php?output=NjU5ODY1Ny8xNTExNTI0ODE3"
6. Enter this link to ,,Stream URL in Garry's Mod''
7. Be happy from effect ;)

Please, keep in mind that these are just one time urls. Playbacks on other clients (players) on the server or a second playback might not work. This is a limitation by the convert provider.
