Use the playlist editor, if you are admin. You can find urls there, but not limited to: http://www.shoutcast.com/

You find it in the settings. They are in the utilities tab. You can alternatively enter "cl_streamradio_playlisteditor" in the console.

Are you admin or in single player? This is required for the use of the playlist editor or for adding new playlists in general. You can do playlist manually, but this require the access to the server files if you are in multiplayer too.

Also I recommend you to read the description.

If you are in single player or an admin then you should write an proper error report. I like to quote myself here: "If you get a error message and you don't know what to do, you should always include it in your question."

How to add my own mp3s?
I'm terrible with notepad and my playlists with mp3s on my own computer won't work. I'm sorry if this isnt a very descriptive discussion but it's early in the morning and im getting a bit tired.

Use the playlist editor. You will have to upload the music files somewhere and enter the URL in the or put them in the sound folder of GMod and put in the relative path. Others will only hear it if it was uploaded.

Hi,

I am new to all the admin stuff, I recently added a server, I'm the owner there. And I have installed this addon. I tried to add a playlist, and as said above: i went to Shoutcast, and found my favourity radio station there, I pressed the download button and clicked on M3U. Another tab opened in my browser and copied that link, which is: http://yp.shoutcast.com/sbin/tunein-station.m3u?id=32762
I saved it in the playlist editor, but still, the radio doesn't recognise the file.
I went back to the editor and saw that the file was deleted or some sort, I am really confused and I really do want to play the radio. How do I fix this?

I have tested the link and it works. You probably forgot to save the playlist. You press on "New Playlist" (that table with a green plus icon) enter the file name. After that you enter the URL in the then you give it a name on the right side of the gui and than you press on add. Then you need to save, so press on the disk button in the upper left corner.

The editor is a bit glitchy some times, I need to tweak a few things.

Many thanks for your reply, it was very helpful!

does it support WAV? not only MP3s, you should also add OGG, FLAC, and uncommon file format DRO(DOSBox Raw OPL) that contains data written for OPL2/OPL3 FM chips used in 90s(DOS, yeah...)
Polyzium 25 Dec, 2014 @ 12:36pm
P.S. These chips are widely used by soundcard manufacturers, such as Creative with his Sound Blaster 16/AWE32. You can also steal OPL emulation code from DOSBox project to make your addon support DRO files.

err... my song seem to be not readable to your addon(and wiremod). other programs plays this file fine, WTF?

You should know that this addon uses an API that is build into GMod, so we can use it via Lua, which is already supporting the most of these formats. Im not able to change nor to extend it with Lua. The API GMod uses is called BASS[www.un4seen.com]. Ask Garry/Facepunch or Un4seen to add your DOS file format.

This addon supports what the implementation of the API in GMod supports, nothing more, nothing less. It supports the most common file formats such as WAV, OGG, MP3, FLAC. WAV however can only be played if they don't loop by themselves in the game engine. As it seems BASS doesn't like the cues in them and will yield the error code -1.

Local files have to be given relative to the steam/steamapps/common/garrysmod/garrysmod/sound/ path. The file has to be in that folder or inside a subfolder of it. That's also a limit of the API implementation.
