"dillettante" is an italian word that mean "inexpert". it is referencing at the fact that the spy is covered in police cross,wich means he isn't really smart

2 words can exist in other languages and mean different things.

die means "the" in german
and it means something very different in english

I think they mean that Spy is French, not Italian.
