Left 4 Dead 2

★★★ 3/5: Mixed but enjoyable

This is a long, intense and, at times, somewhat harassing campaign. Mainly due to some balancing issues with the gameplay and a few design decisions that make me question. If we divide the campaign into three parts, I can say that the first part is the weakest; the second part is the best and the third part is a super jank. The first part of the campaign has us start in a swampy area with a few buildings in the area, and a lot of zombies. The overall design is decadent and fails to meet the graphic quality I expected, also, the layouts feel quite novice and at times makes me think more in a map of Gmod than Left 4 Dead 2. The second part of the campaign changes that completely and suddenly the quality increases at least twice as much. From the visual design to the flow of the maps, everything is much better. Not only that, but the aesthetics of the maps themselves change radically. They don't look like the previous ones at all, which gives a certain feeling that the author probably changed his mind or took a long time between maps. On the other hand, the last part, and the end of the campaign itself, are somewhat... well, they are like the first part.

These maps are fun, at least. I can say that certain scenes manage to bring good caliber challenges that make the combat a decent experience. On the other hand, certain sections tend to be overly difficult and somewhat boring, but in general this is not the rule.

The visuals are what disappoints me the most. While some maps manage to create a fairly attractive aesthetic, the truth is that the campaign in general falls a bit. If it had been like all the maps in the second part, I think it would have been much, much better.

In itself, it's a bit of a lackluster campaign at times, with unexpected jumps in quality and then drops, so you could say that in that respect this campaign is perfectly... basic. At least it still had some fun moments, and I can see some of these areas (like the bridge section) being fun with friends.
