Also, in their little basement hideout rooms I believe the Cult either killed each other out of madness, blamed each other and killed each either and eventually starving, or they all killed themselves.
I believe the one with one person blaming the others and killing them all is the most likely, given the single skeleton holding the radio in the locked room.
I might be wrong about the single skeleton, I didn’t see any others
I imagine he eventually gained sentience and wasn’t attacked by many of the creatures as they didn’t see him as living. It would certainly explain how much he knows about the Cult and why he’s been here for so long.
The Flattwoods monster doesn't appear if you don't interact with the trader because the FW event is programmed to trigger Trader voice lines, which wouldn't make sense if you haven't met him yet.
Proof: The Trader saying he doesn't see what most saw in the snake, the Lake Cabin Resident noting that they worship something in a tree, and the paintings in the powerplant.
I was so confused about what their idol thing in the basement of the power plant from the painting was
Also who was the Goatman?
What were the Cult trying to summon that caused the Leviathan?
Is the Cult dead now?
Is the Cult somehow related to the mansion that the Trader mentions?
The trader specifically says that the Leviathan that comes on night 4 was made by a failed ritual to create the Mothman. So we know that the Mothman was not in existence before the "Monster" from night 4 was,
So I think that after the cult summoned the Leviathan, they angered the Deity they worshipped and they then tried to make up for it by doing the ritual correctly and creating the Moth man.
Then the Deity not satisfied placed a curse upon the forest and the cult members desperate tried calling for help on the radio (Which ill point out the Trader said he had no knowledge of) according to folklore a "Wendigo" is someone who has gone mad and eaten human flesh which must be why the Wendigos you see ambush you and kill you presumably to eat you so maybe the Wendigos are Cult members and villagers who have gone mad and restorted to cannibalism from lack of food in the forest.
So we know that the Trader knew the Goat man so perhaps he and the Goat man were failed rituals by the cult.
But then how did the goatman die? Who buried him? Couldn't been the Trader since he asked you to go find him and dig him up. However what happened to the Soldier that hid out in the well? Perhaps he turned into the Goat man? Why were there dead and injured wolves that did not attack you? Why was the Giant snake dead and hanging from a tree? So many questions! I guess we will have to find out more in the next map!
