Locations of the shadows?
I've found a few, but they seem to be in plain sight.

at the mirror room you can catch a glimpse of one walking out of one of the stair ways, it was my first peak at him. Next time I'll shoot him

the next one is in the spawn buildings in the connector you can find him walking and then again in the little window thing

My first encounter was in the mirror room, if you look in the mirror you'll see him appear behind you in the mirror.

If you load a save on the map, the npc for the shadow glitches out and you can see all the spawns.
